The Energy Department isnt working to lower gasoline prices directly, Secretary Steven Chu said Tuesday after a Republican lawmaker scolded him for his now-infamous 2008 comment that gas prices in the U.S. should be as high as in Europe.
Instead, DOE is working to promote alternatives such as biofuels and electric vehicles, Chu told House appropriators during a hearing on DOEs budget.
But Americans need relief now, Rep. Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.) said not high gasoline prices that could eventually push them to alternatives.
I cant look at motivations. I have to look at results. And under this administration the price of gasoline has doubled, Nunnelee told Chu.
The people of north Mississippi cant be here, so I have to be here and be their voice for them, Nunnelee added. I have to tell you that $8 a gallon gasoline makes them afraid. Its a cruel tax on the people of north Mississippi as they try to go back and forth to work. Its a cloud hanging over economic development and job creation.

screw the DOE dismantle, it and lets get on with it
Indeed, we have to look at their behaviors to know their true motivations.
Among the possible motivations are:
They truly want to convert our society to using “renewable” energy, as they have stated...
or
they want to completely destroy the ability, through scarcity and artificial cost increase, for the common person to be able to use energy at all, leaving only the elite with access to energy.
Their behaviors demonstrate the latter far more than the former.
America needs a mass crucifixion of the Messiah and all his disciples. There will be no end of the madness till they are gone
Until Y equals 75% of X, only an idiot would plan on using increased costs of X to push people to Y.
If Y capacity approaches a 25% level, you will find private capitalization flooding into Y.
That is unless you want to live in Bartertown, and Tina Turner is the president. Steven Chu would be the Master. Of course he would need a Blaster......
Secretary Chu should be forced to ride a bike and his house should have all utilities disconnected.

“Chu is supporting the Obama slogan of “Hope and Change” to get America off fossil fuels. Chu “hopes” the prices of fossil fuel reaches the comps of Europe and the “Change” will result in forcing Americans to purchase the “Obamacar” (Volt) that no one wants. The DOE has no compassion for the hurt of the American people. Their only objective is to inflict enough pain that people will abandoned their cars in the road ways; shoulders; driveways of America and run to the inefficient autos that technology does not support; infrastructure can’t supply; and America hates.
“Good move, so how is that Obama hope and change thing going for you with the gas prices America? Chu on that the next time you pull up to a gas station; take out your mortgage on your home; auction off your kids and wife; sale the truck and dog just to purchase a tank of gas.

“What was the goal of the DOE the 40 years previous to this year?
“Doubling and tripling gasoline prices while you execute your schemes to bail out and pay off the lefts political contributors is not going to turn out well for you or the country.
“You do remember the country don’t you?

Maybe these guys are lousy Freeper trolls? I hope not!
If there is any pushing to be done and of who to push, perhaps it should begin in Washington with a shove into the Potomac.
At least Jimmy Carter turned down the heat and wore a sweater............

This admin. thinks they can ween us off oil....what a joke. A bunch of no nothings running the government is a joke. They are all marxists that know best and may they all go to hell. LIkeI said on another thread, if they could put windmills on a plane they’d try to do that. NOthing wrong with oil or its by products and there are lots of them including material for clothing....Every now and then I would use water too hot to wash my nursing uniforms and they would come out spotted with black oil. Some polyesters are oil by products, so are plastics. Its not just oil, its used for many things...
Of course by them all the “little people” will be living in population clusters where they are more easily “served” (controlled) by the big government, who will control what they eat, what their children learn, what medical care they receive, and what they are permitted to do and hear in their churches, if they persist in this faith mythology thing
dream on, this is the land of pointy-headed liberals like Chu who can't park a bicycle straight but gets a chauffeured limo to work everyday
But it really sounds stupid. And it’s four years old. Can’t you come up with something more original?
What do you think of Sarah Palin?
(just checking a hunch)
Let’s understand the logic here:
Raise pump prices to $8 per gallon, incredibly burdening the average American.
Then, tell that American he must purchase a new car that runs on another fuel source, even though that American has less disposable income becase the price of gas is consuming it.
Answer: Subsidize the electric and unicorn cars and levy a tax on hydrocarbon-based vehicles.
If the average person understands that this "President" (I use that term loosely) wants $5+ per gallon gas, he will lose this election in the biggest landslide of all time.
Shout it from the rooftops!!!
The Dept.Of Energy has got to go.It has done nothing to provide energy independence for the United States.Instead it has thrown more obstacles in the way forcing us to spend more and making us more dependant on foriegn sources of energy.
Not a problem since we've outsourced our means of manufacturing production we won't need fuel. There won't be any tanks, ships and planes left after the first strike.
It’s time for the voters to “wean” Chu and his DOE buddies off of taxpayer dollars.
Personally I'm hoping for some rolling blackouts this summer - that should fire people up quite a bit... ;-)
As long as the cross is bio-degradable I don't see the problem.
