This colossal dumb ass must go!!
Whose to say that what we call oil is not a form of algea? I read an interesting article once that was theorizing on this and it was actually pretty convincing. Seems that we keep finding that the known reserves are growing in size, even as we pump more out.....
I wish I could remember where I saw that article to bring it over, but alas, I am a senile old fool.
Environmentalists aren’t going to have a problem removing algae on a very large scale, considering algae forms the basis of the aquatic food web, and who knows what else? The same people who have an issue with the windmills and birds, will be fine with this? I seriously doubt it.

It’s Time for Slime! Go Green! See How America Looks While Walking!
It will cost $40k and GM workers will have to drive them home and keep their fuel supply in the pool. No more chlorine needed. A reservoir of slime will be at the ready in the backyard. Those without pools can take their slime home in a bucket.
Yes, and don't you dare forget...keep those phakin' tires properly inflated!
Algae won’t do the trick. I even bought a couple website names when I thought it would be viable. The shear tonnage of mass you need to process makes it impractical for large scale production. There’s so much mass that you are better just burning it in a nearby powerplant. Not saying it doesn’t produce energy, just that it will never be a gasoline source.
"During his trip, Bush is also focusing on a proposal to increase investment in development of clean electric power sources, and proposals to speed the development of biofuels such as "cellulosic" ethanol made from wood chips or sawgrass
For your edification you might want to continue to read an FR article:
Bush: Nation is on Verge of Energy Technology Breakthroughs (Prez in Wisconsin, Monday) JSOnline via AP ^ | Fenruary 21, 2006 | AP Staff Writer Posted on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 10:26:06 AM by Diana in Wisconsin.

LOL! What a farce!
The exact quote was:
Keeping America competitive requires affordable energy. And here we have a serious problem: America is addicted to oil, which is often imported from unstable parts of the world. The best way to break this addiction is through technology. Since 2001, we have spent nearly $10 billion to develop cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable alternative energy sources. And we are on the threshold of incredible advances. So tonight I announce the Advanced Energy Initiativea 22-percent increase in clean-energy research at the Department of Energyto push for breakthroughs in two vital areas. To change how we power our homes and offices, we will invest more in zero-emission coal-fired plants, revolutionary solar and wind technologies, and clean, safe nuclear energy.
We must also change how we power our automobiles. We will increase our research in better batteries for hybrid and electric cars and in pollution-free cars that run on hydrogen. We'll also fund additional research in cutting-edge methods of producing ethanol, not just from corn but from wood chips and stalks or switchgrass. Our goal is to make this new kind of ethanol practical and competitive within 6 years.
Breakthroughs on this and other new technologies will help us reach another great goal: to replace more than 75 percent of our oil imports from the Middle East by 2025. By applying the talent and technology of America, this country can dramatically improve our environment, move beyond a petroleum-based economy, and make our dependence on Middle Eastern oil a thing of the past.

That was 2006. It's now 2012. So, ethanol should just about be competitive, right?
Truth is, that was just big-government posturing. Everyone knows corn ethanol is stinking political scam. And cellulosic ethanol is still largely a VC pipe dream. That's where it should stay with the VCs. Republican or Democrat, the government should stay the hell out!
Let the VCs invest. And let the oil companies drill, drill drill!
Well, what do you expect from a guy that uses sh!t for brains?
He’s got enough hot air to power a small country.

My moneys on Florida getting a biomass thing going from Everglades algae or something similar.”
I rest my case.
Oh, and........
AFRL can make gas out of flowers, grass, pretty much anything. I have seen their exhibit and spoken with representatives. The question is the ramp up for doing it.
I believe 0bama/Jarrett, through Salazar, will ban fracking. We are not to use our own oil or nat gas. Soon, those rights will be ceded to foreign companies and countries. Call it spreading the wealth.
I know! We can call it Oylent Green!
President George W. Bush quotes compiled by Est ... there are some rough spots, and I'm going to mention ... which we're close to getting to, that we can use sawgrass ...

I doubt this guy ever lifted a test tube! He has a magical conception of science. Beam me up, Scotty! Wish it would happen to him.
NationaL Geographic, I think. Obama is stuck in the 18th Century when they thought that wealth-distribution was a zero sum game.
Well, not that simple. Big OIl is in bed with the socialists, with the nationals. Palin could tell you as thing or two about how those people operate. The heads of the majors know they need to pander to those in political power. That said, the more government, the more inefficient becomes the oil industry. The oil bureaucracies are top-heavy, but far less so than government agencies. Pair the two and you get a close approximation to the Mexican national company, which has plundered its fields.
