Bush mentioned cultivating saw grass in a SOTU speech

To be fair that is complete BS without a hint of a shred of a notion of any connection with fact. But I know, you Leftist trolls never bother letting little things like intellectual honesty and factual accuracy get in the way of your mindless adoration of all things Democrat.

“The Department of Energy (DOE) currently spends about $85 million on 30 research projects “to develop algal [sic] biofuels,” ....”

At least, that's a lot better than multi-billion dollar subsidies for industrial-scale implementation of unproven or economically nonviable technologies (e.g. solar, wind, corn ethanol).

I remember reading about a company doing this some years ago - the problem is scaling it up to produce the milluions of barrels we need per day would take enourmous investment in facilities and the ultimate cost would be rediculous.

The Navy is using algae fuel on some ships. It costs much, much more than the other fuel. Of course the companies selling the algae fuel to the Navy are 0bama cronies.

President Obama admitted today that he does not have a "silver bullet" solution for skyrocketing gas prices, but he proposed alternative energy sources such as "a plant-like substance, algae" as a way of cutting dependence on oil by 17 percent.

Unicorns must come in all shapes and sizes.

If anybody ever came up with a cost-effective solution for converting algae to fuel oil, it would only be a short matter of time before the USFWS would have algae placed on the endangered species list.

He does realize that while technically feasible the gunk to oil process will never produce cheap fuel. It works if you have no other choice to walk. But it will never bring down the price of a gallon of gas.

Actually it was switch grass, not saw grass, so technically you are right, although your pointless rant makes no sense. I clearly recall hearing GWBush yammering about it as an alternative energy fuel. I don't know if it was in a SOTU message, or some other speech, but yes, he said it. You can take it to the bank.

There is something mentally wrong with this idiot.

There's something mentally wrong with him but he is no idiot. He is following his proclaimed agenda. The idiots are the ones that believe this crap.

Where did you get the notion that SkyDancer is a Leftist troll? Her history of posts on this forum says otherwise.

Also, Bush did indeed speak of cellulosic bio-fuels (which would include sawgrass).

You owe SkyDancer an apology.
