On January 7th, at the Republican debate, George Stephanopoulos embarked on a sudden, unexpected, and bizarre series of questions about contraception and birth control. Most of the political pundits who watched this, were somewhat puzzled at the virtual harangue that Stephanopoulos went on, asking candidate after candidate to pin down their views -- even though birth control issues were decidedly not in the forefront.
Then, President Obama and his brain trust picked a fight with the Catholic Church, demanding that they fund birth control and abortion services. When the Church rose up in anger, they compromised -- they only needed to accept birth control and abortion services, the funding would come later.
Angered by the arrogance and the mandate to go against their conscience, soon a bill was proposed that would stop these unConstitutional mandates. Within hours, Senators Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) assembled on Capitol Hill to denounce 'Republicans who wanted to keep women barefoot and pregnant', who wanted 'to bring us back to the medical dark ages'.
This was the plan all along. Obama picked a fight, on purpose, to be able to have these sound bites uttered. The media, complicit in every effort to bring America farther to the left, knows the lie but will not explain: This has nothing to do with contraception. This has everything to do with mandating religious behaviors and belief. Contraception is the hill they are fighting on, but the war is over forcing the Church to do something they will not -- and they CANNOT.
The media will never explain the nuances of this, and Team Obama knows that. They wish to mobilize women by making them believe -- amazingly -- that somehow, Republicans intend to poke holes in condoms and substitute Tic-Tacs for Birth Control Pills.
The fact George Stephanopoulos asked this question, during the January 7th debate -- into a political vacuum as regards this issue -- tells even the casual observer that this plan of attack was well-premeditated, and directed from the White House. The immediacy of response from the most diligently liberal also implies preparation. We have, in front of us, what the Democrats wish to make the election about: Scaring women with outright lies. Apparently, scaring the elderly in the same way isn't working as well.
I fully agree with that except that the Church and many on the right are accepting and responding to the premise created by the left that this only affects religious institutions. What about the 1st Amendment rights of the unaffiliated individual citizen?
The Dems have created the false perception that they have made an exception for religious institutions. However they haven't even offered that phoney baloney concession for the rest of us. They have mandated that all insurance policies cover abortions and abortion-inducing "contraceptives" so no one can escape participating in the murder of unborn humans other than to go uninsured and be in violation of the law.
That is a violation of everyone's freedom of religious exercise.

I’m not quitting, Laz. I’m stating some facts and I wish to hell our side can rally the masses against this Communist-style dictator. At this particular point in time I’m not optimistic but I haven’t given up hope by any means. Just becoming a grandfather for the first time recently gives me more resolve to do what I can to save this country from ultimate implosion.
The candidates themselves, can make it clear they have no desire to ban contraceptives and that this is an Obama scare tactic.

Santorum: Birth control harmful to women
Story is on Drudge, here is the link:
Nice job! Saved it and emailed it to everyone.
Enough guys like me, and we sway the country.
Thanks joe!
I disagree. Go talk about this with women. Obama just got a lock on the female vote, and Rick just lost it.
Nah, Obama got a lock on female liberal vote. He had that anyway.
Thanks for the Ping. Watch the other hand, folks. Nothing that these villains do is ever without multiple goals underlying the apparent primary purpose. . .
Then we will have another term with Obama. And an underground church.

I didn't really look carefully at the source or author, and when I scrolled back up, as I liked the piece, it was you!
Bravo!
You know Stephanoupolis too well. You smelled a rat and it is he!
One thing I don’t think they figured into the equation....even catholics who use birth control do not want to see their church put in this position.
The catholic vote in Pa? Ohio?.....buh bye!
Just heard the first radio spot here.
~”0 went out of the way to guarantee women of all faiths access to contraceptives WITH NO CO-PAY, the Republican extremest want to change that, call congress today”
Somebody plays chess.
As usual the regime has thought this out so it accomplishes a myriad of goals instead of just another lie created and than repeated by the DBM.
The contraception, the budget that was never meant to fly, the 80% cut in nukes which will never take place, all are of the same genre.
The ideas here are to divert the attention of many of us from the constant destruction of the economy. Currently, obamacare itself is at stake with the right to force Americans to buy anything now being litigated. Without this provision much of obamcare will sink of its own weight.
It's all smoke and mirrors with the smoke coming on fast and furious.
Hogwash. I can’t believe that it is time to give up. This is a losing battle for the Marxist.
Obama stinks and I won’t allow the media to make him seem inevitable over a stupid issue that has no merit.
Birth Control pills? You are kidding me. In fact, the more I think about it the more I laugh.
Ridicule works well. When they do stupid stuff like this all we have to do is make it seem what it is "stupid."!
Then get back to the basics which are" THE COUNTRY IS BROKE!!
This whole thing is wrong on so many levels. Government, federal especially, has no business telling me what I must buy or sell. I will concede the right of forcing my business to use standard weights and measures, but not much more.
Then here comes the 1st Amendment issue, while we are still trying to digest the entirety of the overstepping Unaffordable Care Act.
It’s like a Blitzkrieg. Which front do we fight on? Catholics have one take, Women have another, Libertarians have another- it seems an exercise in splintering and overrunning any of us who might stand in opposition.
What they miss in their assessment is the unifying effect it can actually have on disparate groups.
Politics makes for strange bedfellows.
