On January 7th, at the Republican debate, George Stephanopoulos embarked on a sudden, unexpected, and bizarre series of questions about contraception and birth control. Most of the political pundits who watched this, were somewhat puzzled at the virtual harangue that Stephanopoulos went on, asking candidate after candidate to pin down their views -- even though birth control issues were decidedly not in the forefront.
Then, President Obama and his brain trust picked a fight with the Catholic Church, demanding that they fund birth control and abortion services. When the Church rose up in anger, they compromised -- they only needed to accept birth control and abortion services, the funding would come later.
Angered by the arrogance and the mandate to go against their conscience, soon a bill was proposed that would stop these unConstitutional mandates. Within hours, Senators Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) assembled on Capitol Hill to denounce 'Republicans who wanted to keep women barefoot and pregnant', who wanted 'to bring us back to the medical dark ages'.
This was the plan all along. Obama picked a fight, on purpose, to be able to have these sound bites uttered. The media, complicit in every effort to bring America farther to the left, knows the lie but will not explain: This has nothing to do with contraception. This has everything to do with mandating religious behaviors and belief. Contraception is the hill they are fighting on, but the war is over forcing the Church to do something they will not -- and they CANNOT.
The media will never explain the nuances of this, and Team Obama knows that. They wish to mobilize women by making them believe -- amazingly -- that somehow, Republicans intend to poke holes in condoms and substitute Tic-Tacs for Birth Control Pills.
The fact George Stephanopoulos asked this question, during the January 7th debate -- into a political vacuum as regards this issue -- tells even the casual observer that this plan of attack was well-premeditated, and directed from the White House. The immediacy of response from the most diligently liberal also implies preparation. We have, in front of us, what the Democrats wish to make the election about: Scaring women with outright lies. Apparently, scaring the elderly in the same way isn't working as well.
Awwwww.... now I’m gonna blush....
That is a very good point. This not just about abortion or a war on Catholics. This is a direct attack against religion and the American People realize that. The "Statist Left" were not expecting the uproar.
The Obama crowd apparently didn’t calculate that this wasn’t just a fiddly bit of ritual. That orthodox Catholics viewed this as a sanctity of life issue just as much as if Obama had expected Catholics to contribute to private murders, and especially when it comes to “Plan B” pills.
Great post
Yeah, but if 50% of the voters are scared this easily that big bad Republicans are going to take their condoms away form them, then we can’t make a winning, reasonable argument.
I’m Catholic and Pro-Life so of course the sanctity of life is a very important issue to me as well. My Non-Catholic fiends are appalled by this intrusion into Religious Freedom also.
“Hadn’t heard about OWS, but Planned Parenthood is.”
Ah, so. It’s about making sure the pregnant and mothers starve. Clever. More for the PP members. /ridicule
Way to hit it Laz!!
I’ve shared on my FB wall.... ;)
“If our side doesnt put together a Carville-style War Room, we are sunk already.”

Even if we get to that point and put some serious threats on them, they are one step ahead of us. Remember when hag Janet N put out warnings that “right wing extremists” are on a terrorist watch list? They can say, “See, we were right about them.” Which of course requires the full force of the U.S. government to “put them down.”
I honestly don’t see how we can beat them without causing Civil War II. We have a truly clever and evil federal government on our hands.
Not only does this move make (some/most) women feel protected, it is after all a freebie —— it also throws red meat into the middle of the Republican primaries to distract from economic and national defense issues - - - and garner great soundbites for the general election.
At least one Republican candidate has taken the bait.
Great! I’ve been FBing it all over, too....
Please note, I said "Carville-style War Room". That's a political version of same. No force involved, just politics: media observation, rapid response, and strategic thinking.
That Republican candidate needs to read this editorial.
Implication: ALL WOMEN EVERYWHERE. Not those who have moral objections, in institutions that have moral objections. ALL WOMEN is the implication.
The White House is telegraphing the media, who will happily cooperate, how to lie.
Agree
Actually, I have concluded that the causation runs in the other direction. Journalism is about promoting the image, influence, and profitability of journalism. Politicians who go along and get along with that propaganda wind emanating from journalism get positive labels, and politicians who do not do so get negative labels.Moderation is a classical virtue, promoting liberty is an American virtue, and the possibility of progress is an American belief. Thus, the politicians who cooperate with journalism get labelled "liberal," "progressive," or "moderate."
And the reason that "journalism" can be spoken of as a single entity is that wire services homogenize journalism to such an extent that there isn't a dime's worth of difference between any of the papers belonging to the AP (or any other wire service). Apart from the ghetto known as the editorial page, of course. And even there . . .
Please note, I said “Carville-style War Room”. That’s a political version of same. No force involved, just politics: media observation, rapid response, and strategic thinking.

I do understand the political “war room,” however, the Pravda media will find a way to misrepresent, distort or flat out lie in their reporting so no matter how high level strategic we become it, will be sanitized to neutralize its effect. The media virtually controls this country and there is precious little we can do about it. Rush, Free Republic and other conservative media are but a sparrow fart in a hurricane.
Get the hell out of my foxhole.
No quitters allowed.
First, it is nonsense to pretend that the HHS mandate had something to do with birth control accessibility. Contraceptives are already at the point of total market saturation. You can access them for free at the County Health Department, the University Student Wellness Center, and Gay Mens Park n Spark, and for about the cost of a Hershey bar at every Wal-Mart, every Food City, every truck-stop and every Bubbas Beer and Bait. They couldnt be more accessible if they bagged them up with the M&Ms.
Second, its certainly not an issue of choice. All users are choosers, and they dont need my tax money or my online banking password in order to do it.
Third, weve got these truly existential issues of the flogged and prostrate global economy, the shredded Constitution, the disastrous foreign and military policy decisions of the past 4 years, the Obamunist tyranny, and now they're coaching the "women voters" to shake their booties to the Democrat tom-toms and start chanting, The Pope's a Republican and is gonna grab my NuvaRing?
Please. This is misdirection. And its so obvious it makes the "My First Crayola Pack" look subtle.
I agree about the need for a Carville style war room. What that means, is people with GUTS and fire to win on principles. Not to cave to RINO-ism to supposedly win (it always loses, anyway).
I do think that the evil wights now seemingly in almost total control are not as clever as they think they are...
But if “our” side doesn’t get some serious guts and staunch principles that support those guts, it’s going to get way worse before it gets better.
