Republican Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum visited Boise tonight to a packed house at Capitol High School. More than 30 minutes before the speech started, the 1300 capacity auditorium was full and any new arrivals were sent to a spillover gym across campus.
Santorum started his speech speaking about his family. There was applause when he spoke about his seven children, ranging in ages from 3 to 20. He said Last time I said I had 7 children, I was in NY, and there wasnt applause. I bet a lot of you have that many children.
He also used his family to talk about who he is, and perhaps even his other challengers. If I am the only one who accepts the challenge of faith and family, I will take that.
The rest of the speech was aimed against the Obama administration and other government. He also spoke about global warming, Habeas Corpus, Obamas health insurance plan, religious freedom and contraception. There were a few mentions of his now-famous sweater vests.
He was well received by most the audience, although a few times throughout the night a jeer was shouted out. Besides that, there were no demonstrations or other hecklers apparent.
At one point he pulled out his pocket copy of the Declaration of Independence and said We are the greatest country in the history of the world. When he read the line endowed by their creator there was much applause when he emphasized the word creator. He followed the applause with You people in Idaho know these things.
He then spoke of how he believes it is our now our duty to do the right thing for our country, pushing the point that We will be the last stand.
There were many state legislators in attendance, Russ Fulcher and Bob Nonini being two. Treasurer Ron Crane was also in the crowd.
Santorum finished his speech with the thought that Thats what every election is about the future.
Santorum then took about 30 minutes of questions from the crowd.
One thing I noticed is the article said "When he read the line endowed by their creator there was much applause". Not entirely true. Rick read the line "endowed by their" (pause)...and the audience said "CREATOR", then started applauding, then "You people in Idaho know these things". Yea love Idaho.
Didn't see many (any) protesters in the overflow. One guy got kicked out for talking too loud either to his friend or on cell phone. Didn't see which but wasn't heckling didn't seem. Was real close to me and seem more like a "SHHHH people can't hear" removal than "Get out you Occupy moron".
Two guys walked in holding hands but didn't say anything, just held up their hands at the door and walked out. That was just about it for them.
After his speech to the main room Rick came over to the overflow area and took two questions from us, then walked the room shaking hands and taking pictures, for free. (Unlike Romney who is supposed to be here Friday, at $1000 a ticket, $2500 for pictures).
John Kerry, who served in Viet Nam.
Rick Santorum, who has 7 kids.
Are we electing a Daddy?
Just now noticed a glaring ommission in this article. Rick spent a LOT of time talking about Iran, probably more than any other topic.
Perry was the first on top of Iran and Syria, but he was a doofus.
There were a few mentions of his now-famous sweater vests.

Sounds great! I hope he comes here so that my Mom and I can attend on of his rallies!
...And they were probably livid that they didn't get any more attention than that. I predicted quite some time ago, that the most irrational elements of the left, specifically the homo and pro-death lobbies, would become increasingly shrill as Santorum gained traction. Next, there will be two guys making out. When that doesn't raise enough eyebrows, they'll try having sex at a Santorum rally. Eventually their depravity will be on open enough of a display it will drive many middle of the road Americans firmly into the Santorum camp.
Out boldy articulating your candidate’s case again, I see.
I thought Idaho was the potato state.
FReepmail Antoninus to be added or removed.
“When he read the line endowed by their creator there was much applause when he emphasized the word creator.”
OHMIGOSH that means THEOCRACY!!!!!!!!1 oh noes!
Santorum/Gingrich? I’d proudly vote for that ticket.
That looks like a joke because we know Edwards is an adulterer.
It happened and people on the left ate it up.
Thanks for the report ....If you have any vid cam/phone reports why not offer them to his staff so they can select and perhaps use them...As a matter of fact the same applies for Newt...What these guys are doing on the stump because they’re hitting the big zero give a flavor to what both are about ...But his report has been one of the best I’ve read anbout their candidate and what he’s doing on the stump...
Your a curious bird. I see you only on Santorum threads slamming him for every sort of thing, including who his wife dated before they even met. A whole page of post by you over the past couple days and barely anything other than slamming Rick.

Is there any reason you are not promoting your candidate instead of slamming Rick in a ridiculous fashion? Maybe you are afraid to promote your man Mitt Romney here on these threads. Maybe you are just a garden variety troll without anything to add to the conversation other than hate.
“including who his wife dated before they even met.”
wow that’s really desperate. I’m sure if they keep looking, they’ll find a ticket for jaywalking or a misdemeanor for chewing gum in class.
