Joe Biden, Bill Daley warned of contraceptive backlash
By JENNIFER EPSTEIN | 2/8/12 1:01 PM EST

Two top advisers to President Barack Obama — both Catholics — warned him of the potential for controversy over his decision to require religious organizations to cover contraceptives in their health insurance plans.

Vice President Joe Biden and former White House chief of staff Bill Daley both told the president that the decision would be cast as a government intrusion on religious freedom and that it could alienate Catholic voters in swing states, Bloomberg reported Wednesday. The decision has whipped up a frenzy of criticism for the president that he’s been battling since the move went public.

Biden, the first Catholic to serve as vice president, isn’t known for being reticent. But he hasn’t yet spoken publicly about the Jan. 20 decision. His office declined to comment.

The real backlash is the eternal backlash.

There are two issues and although this is the most important, we should not forget the other. Obama lied when he promised leaders of the Catholic church he would give an exemption.

It goes to character. What kind of person lies to the Church?

These mental defectives are more concerned about alienating voters in swing states than violating the Constitution and the MURDER OF BABIES!

Obama loves planned parenthood too much to back down. This will be an issue until the election (thankfully).

Just think. He had no problem voting to put doctors in jail for treating (un)aborted babies in IL. Telling churches to give out the morning after pill is a slam dunk for the one.

Well they really stepped in it this time.

I am CERTAIN they never saw this coming...to the degree to which it has.

Their only concern is about the votes. About swing states. They're still tyranny-enabling scumbags in my eyes.

Come on, Folks! Barry just doesn’t care, and never did, what any of us thinks. His goal is CHAOS in America - he is trying his darnedest to get us to take to the streets so his goons can start breaking some heads and give us an Egypt, Syria, Libya breakdown right here in the USA.

Biden and Daley are not Catholics. They have lived their lives as corrupt, immoral politicians. They do not believe in the principles set forth in the teachings of Jesus Christ. They are evil men.

I think Obama thought “oh everyone uses birth control, Catholics won't care”. And many Catholics do use birth control, they fall short of following their belief system 100%. They don't want 15 kids in this day and age. But the line is drawn when there's plan B included, and even most liberal Catholics don't want the Government infringing on the rights of their church. I know so-called Catholics that were ok with condoms being distributed at school that are furious over this. I've never seen church leaders so mobilized and quite frankly, in agreement, liberal and conservative. It really goes to show Obama has no understanding of religious belief whatsoever. There's got to me a Muslim group or mosque that employs a non-Muslim. Did they get an exemption? Because in some Muslim communities a woman can't even visit a doctor, so where would she get her contraception?!

Yeah - Daley is pretty sharp. But how could you sleep at night knowing Biden is more tuned in to the American people than you are? It’s a good thing Great Leader is Great Leader otherwise he might have to think about a few things. This decision has Valerie Jarret’s and a few other uberliberal fingerprints on it.

This is all part of the Obamacare, right? If the Supreme Court would just get in gear and slap this thing down, we wouldn't have this discussion.

Zero is implementing it inch by inch, until everything is still in place, when and IF the Supreme Court acts, we will still be paying for the leftovers.

Queen Valerie is pulling Obama's strings, now. A couple more gaffes like this and Obama will be toast, although he would be already in a different era.

I completely agree with your post. But I do think this is more evil than what is seen; I think it is a sort of “trial balloon” to see if they can get away with this, and if they do, much more evil will be in store.

All people of faith who support freedom should agree that the government has no business telling a Church to pay for rubbers or any of the other birth control that Liberals champion. Liberals should take the billion dollars they're going to give to Obama for his election and spend it on this type of nonsense instead of trying to force others to finance the Liberal death cult. With this action we see many of the obnoxious characteristics of the Obama administration. One, disdain for power outside of the Democrat Party. Two, disdain for anyone not in sync with Obama/Liberal ethics. Three, the brazen use of state power to pursue Liberalism's moral corruption and its culture of death. Four, the sophistry of "fairness" as an excuse to violate the so-called "separation of church and state." That wall is apparently in existence only when it serves their purpose. And also, apparently, the state under the Obama goons, like Pelosi, is fine with launching attacks on the Catholic Church.

The answer has to be complete solidarity of religious people against the Obama regime to force them to back down on this and other intrusions into matters of conscience.

"The White House indicated Tuesday that it might agree to some modifications in the rule that would give employers flexibility."

I sure hope NO ONE to whom Obama gives his 'word' will believe him. He's already shown that he's a liar.

The spokesperson for the anti-Catholic Church side on the PBS News Hour the other night made a dismissive comment about how families don’t have 8 to 12 children any more (as part of her claim that the need for birth control is so essential it overrides freedom of religion). Rick Santorum and his wife have had 8 children, but only 7 are still living.
