Look! Up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It’s … a drone, and it’s watching you. That’s what privacy advocates fear from a bill Congress passed this week to make it easier for the government to fly unmanned spy planes in U.S. airspace.
The FAA Reauthorization Act, which President Obama is expected to sign, also orders the Federal Aviation Administration to develop regulations for the testing and licensing of commercial drones by 2015.

I think my greatest concern is once the first civilian is killed by a military drone, public support for the military, in general, will plummet, leading to chaos in the streets.
I support our military men and women with 100% of my heart and soul. Why they haven’t stood up en masse to this dictator in DC is completely beyond comprehension.

Drones are dependent on their ground based pilots, communications, and having a place to return too.
Still its a significant advantage when seeking to control a population. They’ve already used drones in South Dakota (maybe North) during an investigation of cattle theft.

Just wow. I just got the Kindle addition of the first book of his series, Enemies Foreign and Domestic. So many things he’s writing about have come true just in the last couple of years. I’m just feeling more and more that we’ve been sold down the river, not just by Obama but by Clinton and even Bush (I’ve never said anything bad about Bush but either he knew what he was doing or was extremely naive about the Patriot Act when someone talked him into it.)
Would anyone have a list of links on FR of the several bills that have been enacted just in the last few months? I can’t remember the names, but the new law where U.S. citizens can be detained without trial, then there is S.O.P.A and the other similar internet bill (I think they were killed but may come back to life again soon).
Someone who is good at writing reviews should make a list and put them into a review of Travis’ books. I’m personally going to send this out to friends and relatives along with recommendations to read his book. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!
You are absolutely wrong, WHP Whiteman airport is in the middle of the San Fernando Valley and when the tower is closed fro 8pm to8 am it is Class G airspace, along with airspace in virtually All Cities. Get some charts and you will se what I mean, Hell Downtown LA is Class G Airspace.
I knew about the National Guard, but those are under the auspices of the States, no?
Interesting about the Navy and Marines, though. I would like to think, however, that they are the least likely to invade their own people, but who knows anymore.

Governors lose in power struggle over National Guard

A little-noticed change in federal law packs an important change in who is in charge the next time a state is devastated by a disaster such as Hurricane Katrina.
To the dismay of the nation’s governors, the White House now will be empowered to go over a governor’s head and call up National Guard troops to aid a state in time of natural disasters or other public emergencies. Up to now, governors were the sole commanders in chief of citizen soldiers in local Guard units during emergencies within the state.
A conflict over who should control Guard units arose in the days after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. President Bush sought to federalize control of Guardsmen in Louisiana in the chaos after the hurricane, but Gov. Kathleen Blanco (D) refused to relinquish command.
Over objections from all 50 governors, Congress in October tweaked the 200-year-old Insurrection Act to empower the hand of the president in future stateside emergencies. In a letter to Congress, the governors called the change “a dramatic expansion of federal authority during natural disasters that could cause confusion in the command-and-control of the National Guard and interfere with states’ ability to respond to natural disasters within their borders.”
The change adds to tensions between governors and the White House after more than four years of heavy federal deployment of state-based Guard forces to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since the 2001 terrorist attacks, four out of five guardsmen have been sent overseas in the largest deployment of the National Guard since World War II. Shortage of the Guard’s military equipment – such as helicopters to drop hay to snow-stranded cattle in Colorado – also is a nagging issue as much of units’ heavy equipment is left overseas and unavailable in case of a natural disaster at home.
A bipartisan majority of both chambers of Congress adopted the change as part of the 439-page, $538 billion 2007 Defense Authorization Bill signed into law last October.

They are already in use by local law enforcement. We’ve got to put ALL the pieces together...
Authorizing the drones is just the final piece in a long list of “security changes,” from who answers to who for what and who takes control...the Federal Government.
So if a ‘state’ or city becomes a break-a-way situation there is no states rights.

Exactly, 0bama’s potential force is the National Guard, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard...plus local law enforcement all equipped with high tech military level ablities to be used on American soil.
Now consider the recent DOD Act that was passed making the United States the battlefield and the ability to be picked up and held without rights becomes very, very frightening and real.

I would expect this to make the piloting of private planes a little dicey.
That is most likely on of the intents. I sure don’t want to see one of those things coming at me when I am in a private plane.
I know they will fy higher than small planes, but they have to take off and land eventually.
