Read Between The Lines: Hollywood Mogul Buys 2,600 Acres Of Farmland; Moving To New Zealand

James Cameron, the Hollywood producer responsible for blockbuster films like Terminator, Titanic and Avatar, is reportedly preparing to exit stage left. While the move for the Canadian born Cameron may initially be perceived as a rejection or denouncement of American policies and ideals, Cameron, who has made campaign donations to the Democrat Party in the past, most notably during the 2004 Presidential election where he supported democrat John Kerry, may have ulterior motivations, as evidenced by where he’s planning on moving and what he’s planning on doing once he gets there.

From time to time we get a glimpse into the goings on of the well connected. This may be one of those moments:

Cameron has successfully applied to buy 1,067 hectares (2,636 acres) of farmland in New Zealand. In an application filed with the New Zealand Overseas Investment Office, Cameron says he and his family “intend to reside indefinitely in New Zealand and are acquiring the property to reside on and operate as a working farm.”

As we’ve outlined before, farmland is one of the only reasonable physical assets to hold in the event of a major crisis, as you’ll be outside of highly populated metropolitan areas, you’ll have the ability to produce your own food, generate your own energy, and, more so than your urbanite and suburbanite counterparts, stay away from the chaos that will ensue during a major upheaval.

Liberty Media CEO James Malone, like director James Cameron, has also taken refuge outside of major cities at his ranch on the Quebec border, giving him and his family an immediate international bug out plan in the event of an emergency. Another sign from the elite is that large net worth individuals and investment managers are buying up and taking physical delivery of precious metals, which in our humble opinion, is a leading indicator that large in-the-know investors are preparing for a loss of confidence in the stability of the global economic, monetary, financial and/or political systems.

Congressman Roscoe Bartlett recently warned that Those Who Can, Should Move Their Families Out Of the City, and insiders are worried about game changing riots stemming from the Occupy movement.

The theory that elite members of society know something is amiss is further strengthened by comments such as those of financier George Soros who publicly declared in a recent interview with Newsweek that he expects violent riots on the streets of America in coming months and years.

Furthermore, we have federal agencies and local police departments actively training for urban conflict, and the Pentagon has been war gaming scenarios that include large scale economic breakdown and civil unrest.

The stories reported over the last several years point to a growing consensus among elite business leaders, politicians, and military generals that we’re headed into a situation that is wholly unpredictable. They know the system is on the brink, have said so repeatedly, and are actively taking steps to manage a crisis should it ever come to that.

Short of the mainstream media coming out and broadcasting to the American people that the system is about to destabilize and to expect nothing short of total meltdown and pandemonium, reading between the lines and watching the actions of those who are interconnected with the money and power structures on which the system is built will be our only warning signal for the difficult times we face in the near future.

The message is loud and clear. Are you listening?

Ominous black clouds of doom cover the edge of the horizon, the lightening is flashing and there is the distant sound of thunder! The storm flags are going up, who you heed them?

I think that at best we are in for a collapse much like that of Argentina. A excellent 12 part documentary on the economic collapse of Argentina can be see on YouTube with part one here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH6_i8zuffs

I am very aware that if it’s the great end as foretold in the Bible that there is nothing I can do to stop or change it, but history is full of instances and times when man or nature have caused such a calamity that people have cried out and begged God to end it all.

The bible has many verse such as this:

A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3

This verse and others are there for a reason and I urge all to take heed of them, because we are clearly on the edge. Everyday there is a new story about the ‘Yutes’ who grow more restless everyday and when you add the fact that because of the economy people are already on edge it won’t take much to set things off.

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:

“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Siege of AR-558 (#7.8)” (1998)
Quark: Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. They’re a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don’t believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes.

Today we have ‘yutes’ who roam our streets who are with out morals, without respect for law or life itself. They will look are you with the same ‘doll eyes’ a shark does before he eats you and they will feel no more compassion than the shark does.

That will be the test of many. Most preppers I know are Christian people and they will hesitate to do what they might have to do to stop the ‘yutes’. On the other hand the ‘yutes’ won’t think twice nor lose a minute of sleep, in fact they will smile and laugh about it.

For those who are just starting or are old hands at prepping you may find my Preparedness Manual helpfull. You can download it at:

A very nice gentleman sent me a private message in a forum I sometimes visit, telling me how wonderful life in the Phillippines is for him and his wife. He finished his description of his idyllic life by telling me about his secure neighborhood, with 8 or 9 armed security guards always on duty. WTHeck??? Sounds like Baltimore, to me.

2600 acres is about 4 sections of a township in the midwest, about a 4 sq. mile piece of property.

Liberty Media CEO James Malone, like director James Cameron, has also taken refuge outside of major cities at his ranch on the Quebec border, giving him and his family an immediate international bug out plan in the event of an emergency.

He's also got a lot of land out in the American Rockies.

The problem with the "bug out" theory: if you think the US is headed for trouble, why buy land on this side of the border?

Wouldn't it make more sense to buy foreign land?

I think the sentiment is like, "If the US sneezes, the rest of the world gets pneumonia."

It's going to be worse somewhere else?

Four years from now, you’ll probably wish you had 8 or 9 armed security guards watching your neighborhood.

LOL

One night, late.

I was talking to an Englishman and he was explaining to me how big were the British Isles and that I didn't appreciate the great distances involved...and from one end to the other it was 610 miles.

I thought about that for a minute and then advised him that I truly did understand the distances involved and told him about the sign you see when entering Texas on I-10 from Louisiana at the Sabine River...the sign says El Paso 857 miles. I told him that when you arrive in El Paso, you're still in Texas(!) and that I had driven that route before and did appreciate the distance involved.

I never heard another word.

Some people would say life in the boonies is better. Others prefer going to museums, major sporting events, or nightclubs. Who’s to say which is better?

I prefer to be somewhere where everyone who wants to can have an Equinox or a Kahr on their hip, as a minimum requirement. That rules out a lot of places for me. That rules in a lot of places too. The situations you cite took place in a time when folks trusted more, and didn't recognize the predators, or hadn't seen the darker side. Why do police station lockers have locks?

If it goes mad max, then a lot of preppers are screwed. Short of that, if it goes Argentina, we'll do okay in the areas I'm talking about... Texas, out of the big cities, same with Utah, Oregon, Idaho, ... but I sure wouldn't want to be in a suburb of Chicago or Detroit.

Not just anybody can pack up and go to Costa Rica or Iceland. Most will do the best they can in situ. Got food? Check. Got arms? Check... and down the list.

Ultimately, it's gonna depend on how rowdy the zombies get, and how ready your community or group is to deal with it. Having a year's worth of food is an excellent idea if it doesn't go total zombie biker mad max. It's also my bet that they won't be the worst worry if we go full zero next November.

Could be. And if there is some kind of crisis having land on both sides of the border could be helpful.
