During the same period, the price of ground beef has gone up 24 percent and price of bacon has gone up 22 percent.
When Obama entered the White House in January 2009, the city average price for one gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $1.79, according to the BLS. (The figures are in nominal dollars: not adjusted for inflation.) Five months later in June, unleaded gasoline was $2.26 per gallon, an increase of 26 percent. By December 2011, the price of regular unleaded gas per gallon was $3.28, an 83 percent increase from January 2009.

I switched to loose pipe tobacco and only paid $16 per lb. on my last order. It's pretty good too in both flavor and cut. Many online tobacco purveyors dropped their best lines of cigarette tobacco altogether. I'm trying to wean myself off of tobacco onto an e-cig but it's not quite the same for me.
The Fed tax increase on small cigars was even bigger. 2,653%. On large cigars it was $725%. Who would accept even that latter figure increase on any other product?

I read this one the other day. I don't smoke, but the price savings on rolling your own is something.
Store Selling Cigarettes Without Tax Using Loophole
'Farah said the brand of cigarettes he sells the most is Marlboro. A carton goes for $43.39, he said.
Smokers who buy their own tobacco, tubes and use the machine in the store will pay $15 a carton or $1.50 a pack, Farah said. Customers who buy the same supplies and stuff their own cigarettes at home will save even more. Farah said a carton with their best-selling tobacco will cost $7.03.'

Yeah, I saw a story like that here on FR a week or so ago. It was about a store in NYC or nearby though and the going rate is $9 or $10 per pack retail so the savings there are really whopping. $3.50 is about the going rate here in CO but I started rolling my own in '93 long before prices and taxes went through the roof.
Although $16 per lb. is almost as cheap as I was paying in the '90s. The difference was that was for American Spirit and it's much better in cut and flavor. I gave that up about five years ago even before the SCHIP increase. The SCHIP taxes nearly doubled the retail price of loose cigarette tobacco.

Can of beans has gone up ten cents, while the size/ weight decreased two ounces. Recently, we bought what we thought was a half-gallon of ice cream, only to discover it was 48 ounces.

And it was not until 2012 that Social Security folks got a 3.6% increase because Obama told them that there had been zero inflation since 2009.

And thats just the start. We ain’t seen nuthin, yet. And the left will blame the oil companies,,,not obama.
To: OPS4
This is a very viable issue for the average American. They feel it bad when they go grocery shopping. This needs to be craftily laid at Obama’s feet for the masses to digest.

Yep, almost everything is going way up in price and quantity is going down. I really wonder how much more of this we can handle as most wages are not going up but unemployment does. Surely this matters to the average person who votes as this hit everyone squarely in the pocket book.
They still are trying to sell him as this wonderful, squeaky clean savior. How can that even begin to register with people is way beyond me.

Two local stores here just had Fletcher’s bacon 20 oz. for $3.89. I was shocked since it has been around $5.99 the last year at its lowest sale price. I stocked up and put it in the freezer. I also have noticed that hot dogs are now more expensive than hamburger. Go figure.
