Liberals are crowing about what they see as a huge victory for them and they are right because this victory comes at the expense of religious liberty.
Welcome to the Obama 2012 reelection plan: ignore and marginalize people of faith, pander to the far-lefts sexual-political priorities.
This via the far-left site ThinkProgress
Today, in a huge victory for womens health, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that most employers will be required to cover contraception in their health plans, along with other preventive services, with no cost-sharing such as co-pays or deductibles. This means that after years of trying to get birth control covered to the same extent that health plans cover Viagra, our country will finally have nearly universal coverage of contraception.
Opponents of contraception had lobbied hard for a broad exemption that would have allowed any religiously-affiliated employer to opt out of providing such coverage. Fortunately, the Obama administration rejected that push and decided to maintain the narrow religious exemption that it initially proposed. Only houses of worship and other religious nonprofits that primarily employ and serve people of the same faith will be exempt. Religiously-affiliated employers who do not qualify for the exemption and are not currently offering contraceptive coverage may apply for transitional relief for a one-year period to give them time to determine how to comply with the rule.

First add services that will increase cost, then you can blame the insurance companies for passing those costs to customers...sounds like a plan designed to eliminate private insurance companies.
You are an unthinking fool, so I was shocked to see how long you have been around. It is about time you start taking advantage of FR. It is filled with opportunities to gain knowledge and learn critical thinking.
And you may learn to articulate your reply. Birth control has been readily available to women since the early 60’s. Why in the world would you have a problem with that? Thank you kindly for your reply.
My problem is with forcing people and/or institutions who don't believe in it to subsidize it. If an employer does not believe in it and desires not to provide it he should not be forced to do so. Why in the world would you have a problem with that?
Wow!! Where to begin? I agree there is a lot of stupidity out there among both men and women. While some parent(s) may know the maturity of their child, others are not even paying attention, either through lack of interest, mental/moral defect, or overworked/overwhelmed. My two sons went to inner city public schools. I am told by them that kids in the first and second grade were experimenting sexually behind the demountable class trailers or in coatrooms.
At any rate when they were starting to change physically around age 12/13 I decided it was time to give the full birds and bees lectures. My husband was too busy working full time and then drinking after work (dealing with his Korean War PTSD), so I took the responsibility. I first explained all the biological physical aspects, including prevention, while at the same time saying that sex was emotionally complex and best not engaged in until one was mature and preferably married. Then I had a second talk regarding the complexities of male/female relations and family responsibilities. They were both married in their late twenties, have two sons each, and so far as I know never had an unplanned/unwanted pregnancy.
I don’t have that study at hand, but news about it is recent, so I am sure you can Google it just like I would have to in order to send it to you. Regarding thoughts put into their heads, see my above remarks about 1st and 2nd graders. Also, if you are a family of 5 living in a 1 bedroom apartment, your kids might learn certain things at an early age without anyone trying to put it into their heads. The study said 1/2 the pregnant teens did not know certain basic facts: you CAN get pregnant the first time you do it, etc.
I am definitely against forced sterilization. However, you might want to Google The Jukes and the Kalikacs(sp?) to see how people then were persuaded that this was a good thing. So far as I know, no one has ever died from using condoms. I realize there have been some problems with other methods, but I think the statistics on death are still lower than those for death by giving birth. For that matter there have been deaths from toxic shock syndrome from using tampons.
One final thought you say, “don’t ask someone else to pay for your clueless [sex] behavior.” Does this mean that since I assume you are against abortion, that you don’t want the government to pay for WIC programs or food stamps one the children of the very poor are born? You feel it is appropriate for them to starve to death if no charity wants to support them?? Incidentally, I did read the biography of Margaret Sanger many years ago. She was horrified by the squalid miserable lives being led by women with 6, 8, 10 children and no husbands, or unemployed husbands, or drunken husbands, and wanted women to be able to control their own fertility. Whatever subsequent alterations in that basic goal by herself and others might have occurred, her basic concern was very valid. This is one reason I am totally against Sharia law. Even if Saria law is offered as a voluntary option in non Muslim countries, I doubt that very many Muslim women would dare to actually choose not to use it. I should also mention that my oldest son is in Special Forces and has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Wait. I have no problem with protesting forcing Catholic institutions to make available birth control. That is NOT what you said. You said then women can have “recreational sex” with no consequences. There is a huge difference.
Actually I spend most of my FR time gaining knowledge and learning critical thinking at the GGG and Catastrophism ping list posts. Try them you might learn someting too.
That is exacly what is being proposed. Forcing Catholic institutions to subsidize consequence free recreational sex. Let's call a spade a spade here.
But what would it mean if scum sucking politicians on both sides never made another law?
Would Americans have more liberty and freedom and would we be further ahead fiscally as a nation? What does Congress actually do besides make laws on behalf of those special interests and lobbyists who own them?
All religious institutions need to drop out and self insure like the Mennonites and Amish do in cost sharing groups. These are exempt from Hussain’s controls.
There are some non-Anabaptist groups like Medishare.
Best to just leave.

Oh for heavens sakes. Birth control is not harmful. It is given by a doctor. If you have side effects, change your medication. You are a male..right???? That assertion is absurd...and I am a female. Yes...also, sorry for the delay in answering ...puter was down. I did not mean to be rude.

“Oh for heavens sakes. Birth control is not harmful.”
For Heaven’s sake, indeed—it is **extremely** harmful.
“I am a female.”
You are a terribly disinformed female.
I did not mean to be rude, either, but there really isn’t any gentle way to say that.
No. I am not uninformed. I am a grown woman. As is my daughter. You act as though we are idiots. There is nothing about birth control you can tell us we do not know. We are adults making our decisions about our healthcare with the guidance of our doctors. We are not simple minded addled idiots. There are side effects to birth control. Not near as many as there are in pregnancies and how many times do you want your wife or daughter to get pregnant? We are in control of our bodies and our reproductive organs and there is not a politician in the world I want in my gyn’s office. This is no one’s business except ours but most esp..it is Not the business of the government.
And what pray tell is your option to birth control that has been around for 50 years?
I think you might have a thing or to to learn from Tax Chick. By the way dsc, TC just another child... a daughter..what is that #9 or 10 now for her?
But that was HER decision and I would certainly support her choice strongly. Emergency surgery ended my need for birth control when I was 32. My daughter has worked in the medical field for years. We both had excellent doctors. We were aware..she still is...about side effects ..but again.the option?
“This is no ones business except ours but most esp..it is Not the business of the government.”
Nor should it be the business of government in telling religiously minded conservative business owners and employers that they should be funding birth control methods that are totally in violation of their consciences!
Insurance companies tend to offer set plans according to affordable group rates then offer a la cart options for extra fees. Contraceptives are often considered “optional” services that an employer can choose or not choose for their employees. Now what employers should do with plans that offer contraception in all forms as part of the “standard” service and not “ala cart” is another question entirely.
Still, this particular push by the government shows the intent of the government to encourage a type of “population control” agenda under the guise of a “woman’s right to choose”.(and they’ll deny services to folks over 60 to pay for it) It’s not about the government supporting a woman’s “right to choose” contraceptives at all, its about discouraging “your right to choose” to have babies if you want to....subtly, though so that women are hardly aware that that they have been manipulated into thinking in that Agenda 21 directed path.
So hail to the 500 million population future ruled by the godless elites who think themselves “Gods”; many woomen have drunk the kool-aid already and have cyanided the future of western civilization!
