Tea party favorite and pro-life conservative Sarah Palin and her family were viciously attacked to the point she chose not to run.
Congressional Tea Party Caucus leader and constitutional pro-life conservative Michele Bachmann had early promise, but I guess came across as too "shrill" and consequently her numbers driven down to the point she exited.
Successful pro-life conservative Texas Governor Perry hit the race at the top but due to missteps and less than stellar debate performances soon fizzled and is now all but gone.
Pro-life conservative businessman Cain and his famous 9-9-9 plan had promise, but was driven out due to indefensible allegations.
Pro-life Reagan Revolution conservative Newt Gingrich reinvigorated his campaign and soared to the top of the national polls, but was unacceptable to the establishment and apparently also unacceptable to the "true conservatives" among us and his numbers are now plummeting
You'd think "unquestionably" pro-life, pro-family conservative Rick Santorum whose recent surge took him to a tie in Iowa and who's now surging in the national polls might be good enough to stand against Romney for the base, but looks like there are "true conservatives" now attacking HIM as not good enough.
Well, drive them all out and who's left?
Huntsman? Who? Moonbat Paul?
Ideas anyone? Should we all continue attacking the conservatives we don't like until we drive them all out?
Personally, I could easily have lived with Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Newt or Santorum and would be proud to enthusiastically support any of them, warts and all. Any one of them is infinitely better than Obama or Romney.
But if we don't land on one soon and raise him up over Romney, guess who we're going to be stuck with? And it ain't going to be pretty. And if abortionist/statist/progressive Romney (or moonbat Paul) is the one, might as well get used to four more years of Obama. I won't vote for or support either one of those two.
I'd suggest that we all stop trying to tear down the other conservative candidates in the race and instead concentrate on trying to build up our own personal favorites. Who knows? May even discover an acceptable conservative (if not a great conservative) in the bunch. We've never had a perfect conservative yet. Not even the magnificent Ronald Reagan. We and they all have warts.
But we do want to have a candidate with at least an actual CONSERVATIVE record and not an out and out liberal progressive RINO. So let's compare their records and their actual conservative accomplishments but not try to destroy them personally.

Well, he SAYS he isn't, but you can't prove that by his statist liberal record as Governor of Massachusetts. Obama wouldn't have governed any differently, had he been Governor. Neither would Hillary.
Bypassed the state legislature and mandated gay marriage.
Raised taxes.
Supported gun grabbing laws and regulations.
Presided over a plummeting state economy which saw MA fall to #48.
Signed the precursor to ObamaCare into law.
I am totally disheartened at this point. It’s been like watching a Keystone Kops movie to see all the mishaps, missteps, and mistakes made by this hapless crew.
WE need a hero. There don’t seem to be any willing to take the heat.
Knock it off. That sort of behavior is exactly what Jim Rob was driving at in his original post.
I've never followed Rick Santorum's career. I admitted to being 'fuzzy' about his record in the Senate. The first poster who responded was kind enough to give me his take on Santorum's record.
How 'bout you knock off the ridicule and give me your take?
Don’t succumb to the temptation to go third party. There isn’t yet enough momentum and widespread support for the idea to create a coalition big enough to win against the machine.
We have a conservative who’s tough enough, mad enough, experienced enough, and with enough support, to take down Romney. That’s Newt.
I’ve had my issues with him in the past, but the man has shown that he’s got the capacity to learn and grow. He’s also smart enough to read the battle field as it exists in present time, and knows which way to point his artillery. He’s not afraid to use it, either.
The man is just the sort of junk yard pit bull that we need in the White House. He’s got an honest love for this country and its foundations, and will take the fight to the ruling class Socialist oligarchs in our government, and knock their teeth out.
We need that more than ever right now.

Ain't that the truth. I still believe that she's got a greater level of latent support across America, than any of the candidates currently running.
Don't be so sure. Romney appointed lots of liberals to the bench when he was Governor of Massachusetts.
I watched a 15 minute compilation of his debate highlights a few minutes ago.
I do remember 1994, and the disciplined schooling of the new majority house members.
He is by far the most articulate and knowledgeable guy in the room, and I must admit I would enjoy watching him fillet the poseur.
I agree that the 3rd Party impulse is premature- it’s my nature to jump ahead. I’ll wait.
The majority of the Paulbots will not be supporting the Republican nominee.

I propose we all list our choices to the following issues
Constitutional issues (obamacare/czaes and the like
Immigration
Economic issues
War/Defense/Islamic issues
Special “Rights” issues.

I agree with you... Things are so toxic within the TEA Party here in New York, I have refused to discuss the presidential contest. The Paulbots are like a cancer, they are everywhere.
Of course we're not electing a debater in chief, but unless our nominee has the ability to communicate effectively, and convincingly make the case for limited government, and a return to the ideals and practices which made America great, it won't matter. They'll lose to the Usurper anyway.
Can Mitt do that? Not a chance. He can't debate Obama on his record because his is nearly identical. Not only that, he doesn't have a spark of fire in him, because he has no personal convictions. At least Obama really believes in his lunatic ideals.
Can Perry do it? I'm afraid he'd freeze up in front of the cameras, and Obama would make mincemeat out of him. I'm not even sure that Perry would excite the base enough to show up and give him the win on election day.
Santorum? I think the best case in a meeting between him and Obama would be a draw, although I hear that his post Iowa speech was great. If he's to have any chance at all, he's going to have to give that sort of performance 100% of the time, from here on out. I don't know that he can, but maybe. We'll see.
How 'bout Newt? In his case, there's no question that he's got the right stuff to eviscerate Obama in any meeting, but he's also got the chops to effectively communicate our ideals and goals to the whole electorate. He's also the only one I trust to do what absolutely must be done, should he go on to win the general.
Newt is a non-starter.
He is an admitted “progressive republican”. One who will govern in the cast of Wilson....Newt is not what this country needs now.
We are past the days of “he is not” a democrat so lets vote for him.
We need a solid conservative...Someone who can get the Country back on to a moral footing so we can move forward again. Newt is not a moral person and he is not a real conservative by his own admission.
The other point is that Obama would only snicker at any Republican opposed to his chosen Nominee.
While I am not a Romney supporter, the idea that he and Obama are one in the same is ridiculous. That seems to be the current mantra here.
Anybody but Obama, ANYBODY. What will be, will be.

I was a Palin supporter, and I know what day in, day out vitriol looks like, my friend. I endured nearly three years of it every day on this website, until Sarah announced she wasn't running. Hell, there's still some PDS bouncing around here.
You Perry supporters have had it easy, compared to what we Palin supporters have dealt with for so long.
Perry would deconstruct Washington, although he might eliminate the NRC, thinking it was the NLRB.
I actually have alot of respect for him standing up to the EPA on coal and oil issues in Texas.
Newt, as a denizen of Washington I think could still saw enough off with ample warning that his confederates would have time to run for the hills and form deconstruction consultant firms.
I’m somewhat cynical but NG has the vision; I’d like to see the willpower.
