Newt is a non-starter.
He is an admitted “progressive republican”. One who will govern in the cast of Wilson....Newt is not what this country needs now.
We are past the days of “he is not” a democrat so lets vote for him.
We need a solid conservative...Someone who can get the Country back on to a moral footing so we can move forward again. Newt is not a moral person and he is not a real conservative by his own admission.
I’ll take a progressive republican with a 90% + conservative House vote record if that’s the option.
Newt has definitely gone off the reservation a few times in his career, and yes, he has pissed me off to no end with some of his more questionable moves, but "progressive Republican"? I don't think so.
I saw upthread that Newt once held a 100% rating with the ACU. It's pretty hard to get a rating like that, if you're a progressive politician.
I think you could have made that case stick years ago, but I'm convinced that the man has the capacity to learn and grow. I believe that he's done just that, in the last few years. One thing is for sure. He recognizes the basic ideals upon which this nation was founded, and knows how to craft his agenda to align with them.
He also has the fight to push for a return to those ideals, and seems determined to do so, dismantling the Socialist leviathan along the way. There's no doubt that he's the smartest of all our candidates, and that he has the ability and inclination to correctly gauge the mood and wants of the people at this time. He also understands that Obama and his agenda are killing this nation, and he's determined to stop it.
Add in the fact that he knows Washington inside and out, and you've got a winning combination.
