"I hope he stays in." said Rush Limbaugh today on his radio show, after acknowledging that there was some confusion about whether Rick Perry had decided to stay in the race for president or not.

What a beautiful sentiment. May we all be as blessed.
Sheeesh!
2% of the states have made their preference, 2%, ONE of FIFTY!
Based on that very strange caucus, which allowed D’s to vote, we should dump all but the top two candidates?
NO, that caucus has NOT selected the national candidate reliably, it’s doubtful they speak for the majority this time.
Rotney will NEVER be my candidate, Paul lost any chance after I witnessed his zealots attempted putsch at the last Nevada convention.
Santorum? Virtually unknown and not even taken seriously until last nights peculiar caucus!
A caucus which settled NOTHING for anyone who is not addicted to jumping aboard the band-wagon of the MSM anounced leader of the moment!
No western state has chimed in yet, it is WAY too early to be pronouncing who is a legitimate candidate and who should drop out.
The MSM are giving each candidate a day in the sun, the real race will be decided by a majority of citizens, not one or two open primaries.
Perry should stay in until a clear consensus emerges, he may yet take the nomination, he should not quit at the first opportunity to become a future trivia question.
All that money didn’t profit Romney in Iowa all that much. If Gingrich and Perry dropped out, that would leave a lot of folks looking for a new home.
If Gingrich and Perry’s inclusion in Iowa were that signification (for Santorum), why didn’t they do better?
I get your point about having funds to run negative adds about Romney, but I’m not sure if that was Romney’s problem, or Santorum meeting as many Iowans as he could, was.
“f Gingrich and Perry were to drop out, Romney’s pacs would gut Santorum like a fish within a week.”
This is what his greatest weakness is that few want to see because they are too busy gushing over last night.
Santorum spent all of his time (months) in Iowa, kissing their ass and essentially making enough people his first cousin in order to lose by a handful to a guy who didnt even break a sweat with all of his RINO cash.
From the point after NH, where the polls aren’t even putting him in contention, you have to have a media game. Ads and more ads.
There will be no time for county fairs and diner meetings for weeks on end. Santorum never had that really in Iowa.
I
Yes, he is third on my list now.
I can’t stop coming back to Gingrich.
I keep hearing how he sohould not have said. “Romney lies”
He should just roll over?
“He did say a bit later that Perry staying in would probably benefit Romney.”
Rush said Probably? PROBABLY? Try more like it DEFINITELY benefits Willard FLIP-FLOPney.
But I don’t think Cowboy Rick cares one iota if it helps Willard the Lib. The governor is obviously lacking some IQ points, imho.
If he stays in, then I wish he would stop attacking Santorum, as he did yesterday at a critical moment. As it is, he has basically worked as a spoiler.
Perry campaign to Pogo101, "There's a groove? What's a groove?"
Wow thank you i lost my mom to Alzheimer’s
Well, that's good to hear. I was beginning to wonder about the old man.
Dennis Hastert's campaigning with him?
“I unplugged him in 97. Whines about the problems but never offers a solution.”
If you haven’t listened to him since 1997, how do you know that? Sheesh.
It depends on the particular KIND of critique against Santorum. Has Santorum ever stated a “mea culpa” for his shocking support in 2004 of Benedict Arlen over a conservative challenger in the PA Senate race?
Looks like Perry had the same fate as Tim Tebow
He should never have used that line
With that said I hope he stays in because Santorum is not going to last
I disagree.
It’s too early to put all our faith in santorum. I say wait about 3 more primaries before we start wanting perry to drop out.
Then Rush is lacking IQ points, too.
Perry stays in through SC.
Rush says he’s glad Perry is staying in.
Then adds later that it would probably help Romney if he does.
You attack Perry’s IQ because he decided to stay in.
But regardless of if it helps Romney or not, Rush is glad he stayed in.
What about Rush’s IQ?
The best way to get Romney out is for...
RAPID CONSOLIDATION
of the field.
Bachmann did the right thing and dropped out.
It was the right thing for her to do at this point for 2 reasons:
1) It offered the chance for Santorum to capitalize on his own success and he’s the most conservative guy left.
2) There is no way she was going to win at this point with all the headwinds of a) the media, b) the Republican establishment and c) the far left all hammering away at her.
Regarding Perry...
If it comes down to Perry and Gingrich, Perry loses.
If it comes down to Perry and Mittens, Perry loses.
If it comes down to Perry and Santorum, Perry loses.
Almost all of Perry’s fundraising comes from Texas - he has very little support across the rest of the nation.
Perry is not going to be much help in pulling support away from Mittens. Mitten’s minions will not be endorsing Perry any time soon.
Perry won’t be helpful as debate “fodder” because he’s a sympathetic character compared to the remaining field so anyone attacking him looks bad. Romney will be taking the high road as he has all along and simply saying as little as possible, smiling and speaking in platitudes, SOP for machine candidates.
Perry should do the right thing for conservatism - like Bachmann did - and get out ASAP. This will maximize how many of his supporters will go for Santorum early on enough to make a difference.
If Santorum can consolidate his lead over Romney early, he may be able to push him back on his heels enough that he can’t recover. If he can’t keep picking up momentum, he’s cooked.
Time is on Romney’s side. Every day Romney stays in the race is another day the media - most importantly Fox - can keep supporting him with free ingratiating coverage and subtly sowing seeds of doubt in the minds of viewers about all the other candidates. They’re real nice, dontcha know, but ... hmmm... Romney is “safe” dontcha know...
If Newt and Santorum do not get Romney knocked out by the time super tuesday is wrapped up, IMHO, a comeback for either of them against Mittens would be extremely unlikely.
IMHO, it’s time to get Mittens out at this point.
For Newtsie,
If it comes down to Newt and Mittens, Newt loses.
If it comes down to Newt and Santorum, it could go either way.
If it comes down to Newt and Perry, Newt wins.
For Santorum,
If it comes down to Santorum and Mittens, it could go either way.
If it comes down to Santorum and Newt, it could go either way.
If it comes down to Santorum and Perry, Santorum wins.
Romney didn't worry about Santorum because he can knock him off anytime.
I don't think any more should drop out until we get a conservative not-romney that has staying power. Santorum hasn't been tested yet.
Glad ya did bubba...we always need dem idiots like you. live in lousyanna too...you must live on the the south shore.
He had two reasons for doing so. One, Bush and Rove twisted his arm, hard, and said you MUST endorse Specter, so we can get some decent SCOTUS appointments. Two, he agreed to do it, because Specter had earlier endorsed him.
I did not favor the Specter business at the time, but the worst consequences was that it lost the race for Santorum, who had been reliably pro-life and pro-family.
As it happens, I also supported Perry for governor last time around, because he is less of a RINO than Kay Bailey Hutchinson, who really went off the rails. But not a whole lot less.
And in favor of the Specter choice, Arlen did actually manage to push through two incredibly good SCOTUS appointments, after that fiasco in the middle was finally put to rest. And that wasn’t Specter’s fault, that was G.W. and Laura Bush.
