Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
ha! I guess his pockets weren't that deep after all. Thanks for the reply.
More of the same....
We have got to stop this ROMNEY ASAP and SEIZE THE PARTY. Tea Party needs to be mobilized ASAP as well as the churches (in S. Carolina, Florida, etc). Karl Rove, Laura Ingraham, Michael Medved, et al and Fox News (up until now) needs to be bitchslapped something good, and I mean yesterday. EAGLES UP.
Let's say 100 voters, 50 male and 50 female and let say Newt got 10% of the vote. 5 males and 5 females, or 10% of the male vote and 10% of the female vote. See how that works? Cool.
I think there’s just one Romney precinct left with Santorum up by 20. 4/1 Santorum.
#1752 :0(
Rita, you clearly know Perry better than I do, but I respect his saying he’s going to pray on it, and I assume, consult with his close advisers, family, and financial backers. That seems consistent with his character, just as you say, but I don’t think the outcome is a given. For one thing, SC has a 10% unemployment rate, vs. 5% in Iowa, so that should say that Perrys’ job-creation plans would be well-received in SC. I’d like to see him stay in the race.
I also hope Perry endorses Newt Gingrich.
Santorum +34 99.5 percent counted.
Just about 500 votes left outstanding. Still TCTC.
Gingrich has new aggressive stance against Romney

So we ride together, FRiend? :D
Did you hear Fox say Santorum spend $1.65 per vote
and
Romney spent $113.00 per vote.
My decimals are in the correct place! lol

I’m now on Romney’s speech. It’s more like a stump speech. He is trying to be inspiring, but is not.
Right on.
I’ve been to Casey’s, better coffee and doughnuts, but nothing like hitting the small town bakery’s that are using 3rd generation recipes.
Latest from CSPAN
Rick S 29,908
Romney 29,874
Hancock and Hardin counties still out, where Santorum is winning handily.
Calling it now.
SANTORUM just won his first primary.
Congrats SANTORUM.
Hee hee... How embarrassing. I'm loving it!
Yes indeed. Tell that confetti guy to hold up until the cameras stop rolling .. LOL
Romney presented himself as the typical BIG MONEY Candidate who is PRIVILEGED and therefore, does not need to tell you a damn thing. Screw him.
LOL @ your confetti guy.
Yep, he rented a huge ballroom for his victory that’s not a victory.
Har! I guess the victory is still undecided, but it doesn’t matter now.
Romney congratulated Santorum.
Pretty funny.
