2012 Iowa Caucus Live Thread
Iowa GOP ^ | 1.3.12 | Free Vulcan

Posted on 01/03/2012 8:08:24 AM PST by Free Vulcan

Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.

Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.

We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.

My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:

Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1

Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.

Good luck, And if a dirty hippy Paul-tard does start trouble - just kick his butt and be done with it.

Santorum 24 is wonderful!!! As long as he wins, I will be thrilled. I would be even more thrilled if Bachmann somehow comes in 2nd. Now that would be an embarrassment of riches. Two conservatives at the top of the wins would be a first and totally incredible!!!! I am praying like crazy that this happens.

My wish:
Santorum

Bachmann

Huntsman (I know he is not running but why not take even more support from Romney)

Perry

Gingrich

Paul

Romney

Disruptors can now be summarily rounded up and sent to Gitmo for the rest of their lives...

At the moment, it appears that Rick Santorum is the only hope to derail a Romney nomination. I would even consider Perry, but I believe that he’s now stuck in ... ‘that dog wont hunt’ mode.

Gee, I’ve offended you. You must be a Paul-tard. I wonder which of RoPaul’s platforms you admire the most?

The fact that he authored racist newletters? He’s a trufer? He’s anti-semitic? He’s a liberal?

If you are conservative, a vote for Santorum is a wasted vote, since he cannot communicate the conservative message as well as Newt Gingrich. Remember, millions of Americans would pay money to see the political equivalent of the “Ali-Frazier fight” in a debate between Newt Gingrich and Barack Obama. In contrast, a debate between Santorum and Obama or between Romney and Obama would attract far less attention. Please, Iowa voters, keep a best conservative candidate in the ring by voting for Newt Gingrich tonight!

You are correct. Santorum is a wasted vote. It will encourage him to go to South Carolina and split the vote. If that happens we will all have to get used to saying President Obama for four more years or worse: President Romney.

Newt can’t communicate. He said, “He was going to lose Iowa.” Who says things like that before the vote. Also he called Romney a liar which voters don’t like hearing that type of talk. I thought Newt would be our nominee but I no longer believe that. We need someone who is disciplined with what they say. Newt goes off at the mouth way too much.

Could care less who wins the Iowa caucus. Means nothing!!! What really counts is the voter turnout!!! If the voters turn out in large, or even, record numbers for the Republican caucus, and the Obama Teleconference tonight at the Democrat caucus is not well attended, this is a harbinger of things to come.

This Republican contest is just getting started!!! Me, I’d like to see Santorum or Bachmann finish upfront. But....also I believe other players are coming forward, Trump, Palin, etc. I believe nothing the lamestream media utters!!! This nomination quest will be a knockdown dragout fight for the Pubbie nomination.

Why? Because the Republican nominee will be the next POTUS!!! Lots to come yet folks. The battle is just beginning. This is a POTUS race never seen before in America!!! It’s boils down to this!!!

Obama absolute rule, dicatorship & state control versus, freedom, liberty and individual opportunity!!! Wake up America!!!

My hope also but the Iowa voters seem to be a little brain dead. The only chance America has to be delivered out of the communists trend we have now is Gingrich. America has paid dearly for the last King, King Obama, and his communists controlled Administration.

Santorum is acceptable, but I rather see a small government guy be the nominee.
