If you are conservative, a vote for Santorum is a wasted vote, since he cannot communicate the conservative message as well as Newt Gingrich. Remember, millions of Americans would pay money to see the political equivalent of the “Ali-Frazier fight” in a debate between Newt Gingrich and Barack Obama. In contrast, a debate between Santorum and Obama or between Romney and Obama would attract far less attention. Please, Iowa voters, keep a best conservative candidate in the ring by voting for Newt Gingrich tonight!

You are correct. Santorum is a wasted vote. It will encourage him to go to South Carolina and split the vote. If that happens we will all have to get used to saying President Obama for four more years or worse: President Romney.

Newt can’t communicate. He said, “He was going to lose Iowa.” Who says things like that before the vote. Also he called Romney a liar which voters don’t like hearing that type of talk. I thought Newt would be our nominee but I no longer believe that. We need someone who is disciplined with what they say. Newt goes off at the mouth way too much.

My hope also but the Iowa voters seem to be a little brain dead. The only chance America has to be delivered out of the communists trend we have now is Gingrich. America has paid dearly for the last King, King Obama, and his communists controlled Administration.

This isn't the World Wide Wrestling Federation here, we are talking about finding a competent and conservative leader for our nation. I couldn't care less about the entertainment factor of the upcoming debates. In my opinion, Newt would win the battle (debates) but likely lose the war (general election).

By contrast, I think Santorum handled himself very well during the past debates and will likewise do well in debates against Obama and will bring the conservative base to the polls in November to hand Obama the stinging defeat that he deserves.

Santorum was not my first choice in this contest but I feel comfortable getting behind him should he prevail as our nominee. Like Romney, he's a decent guy but unlike Romney, he's a real conservative.

Good point! If the Gingrich/Obama debate was ONLY on Pay-per-view, I'd pay $100 to see it!

Best in debate against Obama?

Forget Iowa, seems like a sideshow to me. Either Santorum or Gingrich are acceptable to me. I prefer Santorum because I think he has integrity. He is also a candidate that the Tea Party will get behind. Remember them? They're the ones that gave us all those wins in the mid-terms. He hasn't been treated as a serious contender yet. Maybe if he does well today it will help. I read that he's gotten more financial support in the past week than his previous total.
Unlike some here, I believe Newt is a real conservative but is also a beltway wheeler and dealer with alot of baggage. Unless there's something I don't know, it would be hard to sling mud against Santorum. He seems pretty squeaky clean.

If a person wanted to vote for a conservative candidate, then they won't be voting for Newt. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Newt debate Obama. But for me, the tradeoff isn't worth it. No debate is worth having four more years of Obama, yet that is exactly what you will get if Newt is the candidate.

I agree, he'd do it better than Gingrich.
