I will be blamed on Fraking.
I didn’t feel it. Pretty far north of us.
It
No fracking going on then of course.
Oy!
Did you get quaked?
On Coast To Coast AM last night when they had the predictions for 2012 someone called in who said that the Midwest would have a 5.0 earthquake. Looks like the warm up for that.
Now that’s an oddity.
>>>4.0 that’s NOTHING! We in California call that just a touch of flatulence from Gov. Moonbeam and his merry band of Socialists in the legislature...
4’s are usually ignored here.
It may be second nature to you Left-coasters... but it’s not a usual occurrence in Ohio.
I didn’t feel it either and I’m just N of there. We had one in 2007 that I felt but it was only like a 3 or 4.
We had a floor joist in the 2nd floor crack once when I was a kid in Ohio.
I thought it was because there were like 35 people upstairs and some jack ass cut through the 16 “ floor joist during construction to let a water pipe through, which weakened it.
My brother tells me now it was a 3.5 quake.
Pop blamed it on me saying that I had set a rocket off downstairs! LOL
I did, but that, weren’t the problem. I swear it!
True, but the geographic makeup is different so the waves of a smaller quake in the Midwest can cause just as much or more damage as a larger one in cali - and they tend to travel farther as there aren’t as many zones to break things up.
One of the reasons the Big madrid fault quake around Missouri in the 1800s rang bells in Boston.
All is calm in SW Ohio. By the way, current Rep. Steve Austria has decided not to run in the primary against Rep. Mike Turner in one of the redistricting battles (new Ohio 10th district).
What time is 21:00 UTC(?) here in Ohio? It’s about 4:20 now, 16:20,,,, right? What time zone are they using?
I’m smackdab between Cleveland and Akron. Didn’t feel anything.
People living along the midcontinent rift zone should be aware that they DO need to prepare for the possible eventuality of an earthquake. Do not be fearful, just be good boy and girl scouts and be prepared.
See the map from this American Association of Petroleum Geologists article. The culprit seems to be the Gulf of Mexico plate.
Happy New Year, my FRiends.

and I wish Art was on to comment about it...
