A student was shot was shot dead today at point blank range in a random attack outside a McDonalds, police said.
Armed response units were scrambled to the scene in Salford, Greater Manchester, in the early hours of the morning after the 23-year-old was attacked.

He was part of a group of nine male and female students, all Indian, who were staying in a nearby hotel for a break in Manchester over the Christmas holidays.
He was out with two friends and heading towards the city centre when the gunman approached and engaged the victim in a 'very short' conversation at around 1.30am this morning.
A moment later the killer pulled out the handgun and shot the student in the side of the head, police said. He collapsed to the ground as his killer ran off.

Comments section is the usual handwringing but limp wrists. They actually described the shooter as “white”, I guess the forgot to add the adjective “trash.”
The local constabulary has demanded that the gunman immediately surrender himself to authorities.

I was gonna say -- how is that even possible? Aren't guns illegal in the UK?
Interesting, that they described the ethnicity and race of the victim and perp. Not sure if this is general policy of this paper or because the perp fit the “liberal” narrative about white racism.
With “reporting” from the Corrupt Liberal Media in the USA, the race/ethnicity of both perp/victim are rarely given, and many times when the perp is black and even when he is still at large, his race, a major identifying factor is censored from the reader in the name of “political correctness”.
Shot at point- blank range does not suggest a random attack. Seems like there was a history here between shooter and victim.
How do the police know it was random? Because the victim’s 1:00 a.m. friends said so, instead of, “He owed the guy a lot of money for drugs, and they’d decided to make an example of him.”?
I was interested in the comments about how the criminals are the only ones with guns. The one British poster that commented that it was like the United States was interesting also, for the reason that I can’t remember when the rather large Indian community in my metro area ever got one of their number killed. Perhaps the knowledge that people can shoot you in the United States makes a difference, the cards are always on the table over here. It is hard to predict random violence anywhere in the world but if you know the worst might happen you might respond differently. I often can’t explain my thoughts properly so I am not sure if those last two sentences make any sense. There might be more to the story that the police have not revealed.

Random unprovoked attacks are common in the UK. A man that lived on my street died last Thursday, 2 weeks after being beat down in the street by some thugs, at random for no reason. Also in the last year 2 of my work mates have been cut up by thugs with knives, again.. At random, for no reason
The victim didn't even live there. They were visiting for the holidays...................
