Described as Indian????

I guess “Indian” has replaced “Asian” as code for “Pakistani”?

I'll guess it more likely that "Indian"="Hindu from India" and Muslim from either India or Pakistan = "Asian". I'm going to guess it likely that it was Muslim-on-Hindu violence.

If they specified Indian, they mean that he came from India, which probably means he is Hindu. I believe he is a foreign exchange student.

When Britons talk of "Asians", they mean people from the Indian subcontinent. There are about equal numbers of ex-Pakistanis and ex-Indians in the UK, so they use Asian to mean either of them.
