House agrees payroll tax deal as Republicans cave in to Obama

House speaker John Boehner is set to sign an offer from Obama to accelerate negotiations.

Republicans in the House of Representatives have capitulated in the showdown over the payroll tax, handing Barack Obama an important victory going into election year.

Under pressure from other senior Republicans for blocking a bill that would extend tax cuts to millions of Americans, the House speaker, John Boehner, is backing away from his insistence that any deal must cover a full year.

A deal agreed by Republicans and Democrats in the Senate on Saturday covers two months, to allow further negotiations in January. It appears that Boehner will sign up to an offer from Obama to accelerate these negotiations.

The deal means that, after a year of humiliation at the hands of congressional Republicans who have repeatedly threatened to close down the federal government, Obama is close to a much-needed victory.

The decisive moment came when ther Republican leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, after days of silence, lined up behind Barack Obama and the Democrats.

Boehner was blocking passage of a bill that would extend tax breaks to 160 million Americans, a measure introduced by Obama last year to help stimulate the US economy. If the bill is not passed by 31 December, American taxpayers face cuts in their pay of an average of $40 every two weeks. About 1.3 million people stand to lose unemployment benefit.

"What is the point in the right to rise if folks like Jeb make it impossible with their open border policy?"

IMHO, HERE is the "Game Plan" which will be foisted upon us to "Save Social Security" and the people will fall for it because it's NOW for sure bankrupt WAY sooner than it would have been....it's a comin' folks....:

OK folks, there is a way the Republicans can give this “cave in” real meaning for the people and put this ALL on the dems in the senate and house.

First, the Senate deal included 1.)the pipeline “consideration by such and such a date by the president”- a really stupid thing to come up with, and which the president will NOT decide on in favor of JOBS and 2.)stopping the imminent cut of Medicare payments to physicians and, 3.) a two month extension of a so called payroll tax cut— that is to say a cut in the FICA withholding for Social Security and Medicare.
By the way, the radio is now calling this the “extension of the social security tax cut”— for the FIRST time-surprise.

HERE ARe THE TALKING POINTS (stupid republicans):
So, Republicans tried to stop the president and democrats who want to further erode the funding of Social Security-— Republicans wanted to preserve Social Security and democrats did not. Doctors were to have their medicare payments cut-— but democrats did NOT want to do that-— at the same time as they wanted to cut the proper funding of medicare. In other words (are you listening you stupid bull repubs?) democrats have further raised our deficit and have endangered Social Security and Medicare-— both of them. Audience for this: the SENIOR CITIZENS. But then, it has to be something you actually wanted to protect, instead of gaming to a pipeline and unemployment payments.

The answer is to get the FICA back to 6.2% and change the tax to include ALL levels of income— not stop the tax at 106k or higher— that would fully fund medicare and SS.
In essence, obamacare will replace this stupid exercise with even more egregious payroll taxes. Republicans need to get on the right side of this— and perhaps they really are too stupid to figure it out, or the RINOs want Romney and Romneyobambicare. That is the ugly truth of the progressivist RINOs and demos.

Again, the difference between Republicans and conservatives stands stark and clear.

SO done with the GOP. It’s conservatives now or no vote. Period.

You know, Boehner made the right decision. It was stupid to get a one year deal at this point. The PR was killing the Republicans...it was killing them. He did this to stop the bleeding.

Let me echo this sentiment. Republicans = Spineless with no cajones. Conservatives = Princples with meteor-sized cajones.

“Anybody know ONE patriotic person in the House or Senate?”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Well, in South Carolina we have congressman Joe Wilson who yelled out, “You lie” during an Obama speech, we also have Senator Jim Demint. Would you consider either of those to qualify? Just askin’.

MMMMM, at first glance those two do not appear to me mutually exclusive. I think all of the above may apply.

I see no one with the best interests of the United States at heart.

We’re moving into a Marxist dominated Oligarchy.

meteor-sized cajones.

The mental imagery is a bit painful but the analogy sure works. "Disgusted" doesn't begin to describe my thoughts about Boehner.

I don’t know where they get $40 because $35,000/52 wks x 2% = only $13.46 per week and $50,000 = $19.23. The Republicans lose right there for not correctiong the exagerated $40.

Obama and his progressive cadre were wrong when they kept blaming the Republicans for increasing taxes by $1,000. The senate only voted for two months not twelve months. For eight weeks it’s $104 not $1,000. It’s all b/s anyway.

"Disgusted" doesn't begin to describe my thoughts about Boehner.

He's like a Chihuaha when he's minority leader, making all this noise, but when he's in the majority, he just can't deliver the bite. As Rush says, "Everyone in Washington is corrupt except my guy." Well, we have the citizens of 8th District of Ohio to thank. So thank you, damn it.

The Marxist globalists took over the Democrat party. They have around 80 members in the “progressive” Marxist caucus and have infiltrated the party throughout the states. They’ve bought the remaining members. I believe the operative word is “co-opted” .Our people are naive. They have no idea what we are up against.

Join your local Tea Parties and make something happen. Start explaining how the establishment cfr globalist facists own both parties.

Nice graphic,rabs.

“Et tu, Mitch?”

We have to win the Senate in 2012 and keep the House.

Defeating Obama would be nice, but the GOP is not in it to win it.

After 2012, we need to make the Republican Party go the way of the Whigs. Lott, Frist,McConnell,Boehner—all have proven they cnanot handle the job.

We have person in the White House of unknown origins who is violating his oath of office daily, and failing to protect the United States domestically and abroad, with a Cabinet made up of lawbreakers.

And Boehner and McConnell are going to lead the charge?

The Dims are thanking their leader Satan for giving them such weak opponents in a year when they should all be thrown in the hoosegow.
