Chilean Men Told to Take Off Ties to Save Energy
Thursday, 15 December 2011 11:25
SANTIAGO: Chile's government wants men in the country to take off their ties to help fight global warming, hoping the campaign will save on air conditioning as summer starts in the southern hemisphere, reported Reuters.
"Let's all take our ties off this summer to save energy," Economy Minister Pablo Longueira says in television spots airing around the country.
In the commercial, he undoes the knot of his pink and white tie and whips it off with gusto, unbuttoning the top of his shirt and smiling.

How about the guys keep their ties on and the babes walk around with the least amount of clothing on? Save the planet? Oh, yeah.

Ties are some Gay fashionista's way of enslaving your neck. Outlaw them NOW!

At first glance I thought the title read: Chilean Men Told to Take Off "Tires" to Save Energy.

Ties are the second most worthless piece of cloth invented. The most worthless is the pocket square made to match the tie.

Perhaps they should just take the summer off and spend the entire day in the ocean.

Don’t wear them anymore unless it’s absolutely required, like a wedding. I’m convinced that putting a fabric noose around your neck was a practical joke that caught on as standard attire.

Banning ties may be the one and only thing the Ayatollah Khomeini got right.

Save on
air conditioning?
What the heck?
I lived there for years and except in cars and stores you didn't have air conditioning or need it. Open the fricking window!

Ties are the second most worthless piece of cloth invented. I disagree, and bemoan the fact that dressing up is going out of style. There are occasions--church services, reunions, classical concerts, teaching a class, etc. where I like to dress up.

Amen. I hate wearing them and hardly ever do. Also, these days, it seems like one looks like a more successful businessman WITHOUT the tie.
