Don’t wear them anymore unless it’s absolutely required, like a wedding. I’m convinced that putting a fabric noose around your neck was a practical joke that caught on as standard attire.

Ties are the second most worthless piece of cloth invented. I disagree, and bemoan the fact that dressing up is going out of style. There are occasions--church services, reunions, classical concerts, teaching a class, etc. where I like to dress up.

Amen. I hate wearing them and hardly ever do. Also, these days, it seems like one looks like a more successful businessman WITHOUT the tie.
