I recall he apologized the very next day......
You recall wrong - Perry said "I was probably a bit over-passionate by using that word and it was inappropriate.
That's not an apology - that's regretting your choice of words. A true apology would have been something like: "I was wrong for claiming that people opposed to in-state tuition for illegals don't have a heart", not "I used the wrong word."
He then went on to say that he still supported the policy in that very same interview.
If you truly believed that was an apology, then please explain why he started sinking rapidly in the polls after that and why he's been able to make a comeback since September.

The ABC liberal brat moderator Steppy was trying to get the candidates to attack Newt on his remark that the ‘Palestinians’ were a ‘manufactured people.’
Perry changed the topic to Obama’s mishandling of the predator drone crash. He said that Obama had three choices (and he remembered them...lol) to get the drone back, destroy the drone or let the Iranians get it. He said that Obama made the worse choice.
And them Perry gave this gift to Newt:
‘This president is the problem, not something that Newt Gingrich said.’
The applause was thundering!
The liberal brat moderators were both stunned!
And that was the moment Rick Perry won this debate!

I am not a big Newt fan, but this question pi$$ed me off in the way it was asked. If youre going to ask it, then Gingrich deserved to be asked it first. I was hoping one of the other candidates would have deferred commenting and telling the Sawyer/Snuffy that Newt deserved the opportunity to have first crack at it. It was a set up question from the start.
Couldn't have said it better. As soon as the question was asked, everybody watching and everybody at the debate knew they were zeroing in on Newt. The cameramen knew it, the other candidates knew it.
You're right, the bulk of the questions were set up questions. The Palestinian one is another good example. They were clearly hoping that other candidates would attack Romney over it.
That does tell you that they are scared shirtless of Gingrich.

What, did I miss Perry apologizing for calling a lot of folks heartless? Yeah, you did miss it. Perry apologized for the "heartless" remark multiple times. Said it was stupid and he regretted it.

Let’s all do our very best to make sure that you are very wrong about, both, that statement and what your tagline says!

There you go, and there is still time."
Okay then. Now please get the message to him first thing Monday morning to hire a public speaking coach immediately and begin the work.
Ask him to put in as much effort into it as he did in becoming an Eagle Scout. Tell him to use the same intensity he used in learning to pilot the C-130.
He needs to knock his next ad lib or public speaking event out of the park.

Romney v Gingrich is reminiscent of Michelle Kwan and Tara Lipinski as one example confirming your theory.

He regretted his word choice. There's a big difference between an apology and regretting your choice of words.
If you truly believe he apologized, then explain why he fell so far and so fast in the polls.

Tonight Rick Perry was confident and composed and did not get rattled
He talked “to” the voters and was not arrogant or condescending
If you watch - many just talk “at” the listeners
If I hear someone say “well as a historian” when someone brings up lobbying for the big bucks -
I will have to open another Corona!
Some people cannot - or will not - look at or examine their own “history”

What he said was essentially an ‘apology’....you’re nit-picking!
When will you answer my questions?
When will you apologize for repeating the same tired lie?
Did you watch the debate or just come on this thread to knock Perry. Lets hear whom you support and why.
I dont knock other candidates...Obama is my enemy!
BTW...Fox News Bret Baier said the Perry won the debate tonight!

I have my DVD all fired up after the debate (and reading this thread) and am about to settle back and watch
It's a Wonderful Life for the first time (but not the last) this Christmas season. As I look at the cast of characters, here's how I'd assign the current GOP candidates the roles in that classic film:
Michele Bachmann - Mary Hatch
Newt Gingrich - Peter Bailey
Ron Paul - Uncle Billy
Rick Perry - Harry Bailey
Myth Romney - Henry Potter
Rick Santorum - George Bailey
Deciding on a candidate is a serious business but I thought it wouldn't hurt to bring a little lighthearted fun to the thread. I'll check back after the movie finishes to see what other FReepers think, how badly I get flamed or if ozone is in my future! :-)

The best moments for all participants were when each had a chance to and then took it — to stand up for another candidate honestly and specifically, IMO.

Yes, I watched the debate. As far as whom I support, I'll support anybody but Romney. Hell, I'll even vote for Ron Paul if he somehow pulled off the nomination.
If Romney gets the nomination, I will vote third party or write in a candidate.
BTW...Fox News Bret Baier said the Perry won the debate tonight!
Nobod cares about Fox News - they have been too heavily involved in promoting people whose agenda seems to involve getting Romney nominated. If Fox News were truly a conservative network, they'd stop promoting filth and sleaze as news and trying to compete with TMZ, and they'd stop having so many people on who are shilling for Romney.
