~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee

Arnold Air Force Base (ICAO: KAYX, FAA LID: AYX) is a United States Air Force base located in Coffee and Franklin counties, Tennessee, adjacent to the city of Tullahoma. It is named for General Henry "Hap" Arnold, the father of the U.S. Air Force.

The base is home to the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC), the most advanced and largest complex of flight simulation test facilities in the world. The center operates 58 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units. AEDC is an Air Force Materiel Command organization.

Twenty-seven of the Arnold Engineering Development Center's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; 14 are unique in the world.  Facilities can simulate flight conditions from sea level to 300 miles and from subsonic velocities to Mach 20.

The AEDC is an Air Force Materiel Command facility and an important national resource.  It has contributed to the development of practically every one of the nation's top priority aerospace programs including the Atlas, Titan, Minuteman and Peacekeeper ICBMs, the space shuttle, space station, and Projects Mercury, Gemini and Apollo.

The von Karman Gas Dynamics Facility has three continuous-flow units, Tunnels A, B and C. The tunnels are used extensively to obtain large aerodynamic and aerothermodynamic databases that are used to develop supersonic and hypersonic flight vehicles. Virtually every high-speed flight vehicle has required testing in Tunnels A/B/C, from reentry and tactical vehicles and space capsules, to the X-planes and winged vehicles.

The Aeropropulsion Systems Test Facility at the Air Force's Arnold Engineering Development Center, located at the Arnold Air Force Base in southern Middle Tennessee, is a unique national facility designed to test aircraft propulsion systems in true mission environments without leaving the ground.

ASTF provides the United States with the unique test capability of simulating flight conditions at altitudes up to 75,000 feet, at speeds up to Mach 2.3, for engines rated up to 100,000 pounds of thrust.

Learn More About Arnold Air Force Base HERE!

Situated in a picturesque campus-style setting adjacent to the Tullahoma, Tennessee Regional Airport is the Beechcraft Heritage Museum.

An attractive blend of authentically restored early American log structures and modern museum-quality construction, this 60,000 square foot facility currently houses more that two-dozen aircraft, plus many aviation artifacts and memorabilia for the enjoyment of Members and visitors.

Good morning, Everyone.
Good morning to our

military, our allies, and their families

Thank you, Lauren, for preparing the Canteen for today’s activities.
I don't remember visiting this place before.
Since it's in Tennessee, I can drive there.
Move out of the way everyone...

Hope this thing can hug those mountain turns at 200 mph. hehe

~ Today...Showers. Highs in the mid 60s.
Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph...
Becoming south this afternoon.
Chance of rain near 100 percent.

~ Tonight... Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers.
Cooler with lows in the upper 30s.
Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph.

Rain is on the way
and so is cooler temps.
I can live with both for now.
Better than frigid temps and 24 inches of snow. (sorry Ma).

Here's a helpful hint for colds -
a study shows that those suffering from a cold
can reduce the duration by 44% by taking 92 mg of zinc a day
(during the life of the cold).

Time to make my rounds and then back to work.
But, you stay right where you are.
Don't touch that dial. And, remember – I’ll be watching!

The FR Canteen is ALWAYS

Come on in and sit for a while.
There's always plenty of coffee,
pancakes,
conversation,
silliness,
and plain old BS

REMEMBER THEM

DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above Honoring those who have served before.

This will make your heart feel good!!

Eskimo Hallelujah Chorus...

This is outstandingly clever, one teacher and his class put together a computer project no one will ever forget, if seen only once.

Done like you’ve never seen before. This video from the small Yupiq Eskimo Village of Quinhagak, Alaska, was a school computer project intended for the other Yupiq villages in the area. Much to the villagers’ shock, over a half million people have viewed it.
