Hosted by the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute, the theme of tonight's Republican presidential debate is foreign policy and national security.
The debate is being held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
CNN is carrying the debate live at 8 p.m. EST.
Participating candidates are: businessman Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Michele Bachmann (MN), former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former Sen. Rick Santorum.
If you keep calling me noob, I will start calling you old fart.
I attempted to emigrate to Australia back in the 80s when Australia was a strong place. (It sucks now)
They turned me flat down.
I met a lot of their bar.
We have a situation where illegal Mexicans go to the front of the line here.
People blame that on Perry, but it just is not true.
“The Obama EPA has been after TX refineries among other things. Why Perry hates BO.”
Also, when TX was being ravaged by wildfires a few months ago, Perry wrote BHO a letter beseeching him to give them some help, and the WH/BHO didn’t even give him a reply. It was disgraceful.
BHO hates strong states/governors who don’t bow down to him. It makes me like Perry more because he passionately despises The Wan.
That’s not what he said. Can you find an exact quote with those exact words? He said he wants to reduce some of the crap (red tape & other nonsense) so that it’s easier for those who want to come in through the FRONT door. That would be different than coming over a fence. He also said he’d deport illegals here. But if you can find a quote that proves what you said that’d be great.

I live north of Houston. A few weeks ago, I had a new floor put in my downstairs - Pergo wood laminate. A fellow called me to tell me who would come to put in the floor. He gave me one name which was a Spanish surname, and said don't worry, he was born here and speaks good English.
So they came and the English speaking one said his partner didn't speak English. I did not ask him if the man was here illegally. Well, in the process of putting in the floor, a phone line wiring problem came up and the non-English speaking fellow was a whiz, knowing exactly what to do to fix the problem. The English speaking fellow had no clue what to do.
I hope the smart non-English speaking fellow is in line to become a citizen. Did I get a conversation going about that? No, I wanted my floor put in. If illegal, did I want him out of my house? No, he was the one who could fix the phone line problem.
The point is, in the abstract, one can say kick them all out. In reality, I needed that guy that day. He never stopped working and knew wiring and electricity. I hope he was here legally, but I didn't ask.
My new floor is beautiful.
Well that would be correct, I am an old fart. And I vote. And I support my Freerepublic home. And I don’t like deceivers, poseurs, democrat agitprops, or ctazy people looking for attention. I do exchange freely with reasonable posters and always post positives about my choice for the Republican nomination, Newt Gingrich. I do not however spend time trashing the other candidates or thoughtful supporters of same. The stomp on spittlists like MNjohnnie or boingboing, who are clearly not adding positives to their chosen candidate but generating lots of negaitves for their choice while insulting and lying about fellow Freepers. So, yes, feel free to call me old fart. I wear it like a badge of honor for my ‘work’ at FR over the years.
Those that choose to, can spin all they want.... I will continue to support Newt and there is a good chance that he WILL be our president.
Newt gave the right answer on this issue, period.
They are hoping the anti-mormon crowd will stay home or some idiot will run as a 3rd party candidate and even bigger idiots will vote for this candidate.
Hmmm, maybe Will88 doesn’t know what a line is, figuretively? LOL ... That poster is just being obstreperous. His usual posting flare.
Actually, it's because there is no line at present that anyone would be required to go to the back of. People just say that to sound like their amnesty - let 'em all stay in the US - proposals have some actual penalty included.
The only going to the back of the line that would mean anything would be if illegals went home and applied to return legally - at the back of the line for legal immigrants in their native country.
” - - - 6. Fine employers $ 1,000 per work day per illegal alien.

No they just pass on the costs to their customers...”
I like it! The employer sits in his/her pink underwear in Arpiao’s jail, and the customer shops elsewhere due to the higher passed on costs.
She is very transparent and the side that came out so loud it that she is dishonest. Thank goodness she’s in single digits.
Go Newt Go....
Your definition of common sense is suicide.
See tagline.
Cain has said several times that he wants a non-deportation means of dealing with some of the illegals here, just like Newt said.
Partial deportation, not blanket deportation. Only Bachmann is running on blanket deportation.
I think most of our candidates did well tonight, but I favor Perry because he has a RECORD.
I would place that RECORD against Obama’s record, or teleprompter.
And the only way to stop that is to start enforcing all immigration laws first and begin improving border security with double fencing, more personnel and whatever electronic equipment would be of use.
We had our amnesty to clear up the problems and start with a clean slate in 1986. We see what's happened since.
How ironic was it for me wanting to get an intelligent perspective on the debate and I jump to the last page to read your post first! Thanks for the giggle :)
Survey sample size is approximately 2,900, with almost 700 likely Republican caucus-goers. Indianas TeleResearch Corp., which has been polling voters for more than 18 years, reports that the margin of error is less than 3%.
Wow.. what an intelligent argument (response), are you in the third grade?
