I rather like Prince Philip. He is irascible.

Prince Philip, (with whom I have dined!) could be a Free Republic lurker. He is a free-thinking, freedom-loving, fearless man with a clear mind and a very American mentality.

From the article:
"Two-thirds of the countrys wind turbines are owned by foreign companies, which are estimated to reap £500million a year in subsidies. What a great form of energy independence, pay outright subsidies to others rather than spending the same money purchasing energy in some form. That must be why the argument for these boondoggles changes to, "reducing carbon footprint" whenever anyone brings up money. The lying fascists behind these scams can pretend that, "you can't put a value on the environment" and keep on raking in their subsidies while the feeble minded argue over whether or not the cost is important and whether energy independence is important.

But that would mean that the environmentalists are wrong on this issue. And we all know environmentalists are never wrong about anything.

It’s remarkable how the DNA of a family dynasty can concentrate the brains part into one individual and leave others with a corresponding deficit like poor Charles.

America's most useless wind farm:
To: Steelfish
They were talking about putting these dumb mills in the Great lakes.
When will they wise up and go for the gas up north!!
We need it and we got it and there are some good jobs attached.
To: Steelfish
Until you can couple wind turbines with a way to store the power until it is needed, wind power is useless.

They are useless. Can’t take a single boiler off line, because the wind doesn’t blow all the time.

They are not useless. They are highly effective at gobbling up taxpayer dollars and also at killing birds. Oh, and of course making the landscape very ugly as is evidenced near where I live at the San Gorgonio Pass, the entry pass to Palm Springs (Coachella Valley), California.

I think if there were anyone who understood the issue of uselessness, The Duke of Edinburgh would be the man for the job.

Windmills are OLD technology. If it worked "efficiently", for large populations, we would have had them all over the place a long time ago.
I could see them on a farm but that's about it.
To: Steelfish
I am anxiously awaiting the Duke of Earl's opinion.
