There have been a lot of suggestions on how to sabotage the recall. I received this from a close friend who knows the laws:
During the signature collection period, candidates attempting to be recalled can raise unlimited amounts of money. It's a funny little loophole, but it will pay off big in this election. The Governor will be able to take unlimited amounts of money from donors and you better believe there will be individuals willing to fork over hundreds of thousands and a few who will donate over a million dollars. If money is no object, why not? I suppose I would do the same if I was in that position.
Do not sign a fake name to the petition. If you are caught you can face jail time and a penalty. The same goes for individuals who collect the papers and do not submit them to the GAB. Unfortunately, there is not much we can do about people who sign more than once. The state party and a strong legal team will be ready to go after the signatures are turned in and will be challenging as many signatures as we can. There are going to be plenty of fake ones.

So, fake names are illegal? Are you sure? (I can’t get the Recall Integrity page to download.) The reason I’m asking is that it is perfectly legal to write in fake names and cartoon characters at an election, and the clerks have to count them and record them. It’s disheartening to record 12 votes for Mickey Mouse and 3 for Donald Duck after a long day working at the polls. I don’t see why petitions would be any different.

The problem with writing in Donald Duck or such - the GAB does a cursory review of the recall petitions. Walker’s people will have to spend the money to do the more detailed examination.
True. Here, I thought that somebody’s eyeballs actually examined each signature and address. I should have known better!
I was thinking of signing Marilyn Monroe in Illinois. Something that would be so obvious that it would get kicked out. But, if nobody is actually examining these signatures, IIve lost faith in the whole process.
Good strategy. And don’t forget to ask them where they are from. And why they came here from Rhode Island to collect signatures. And are they being paid to do it?
In an election, you are casting a vote for the candidate of your choice. You can put in any name that you want.
However, you are signing a petition with YOUR name, and stating that you support the recall. If you pretend to be someone else, that's not much different than going to the polls to vote and pretending to be someone else so you can vote.
There was a popularly polling education reform petition circulating and despite getting far more total signatures than should've been needed, it fell short due to massive fraud. The gatherers hadn't taken on the extra expense of verifying every signature before submission.
Then we've had a public employ pension reform measure gather signatures and unions set up a dummy issue advocacy group to blanket the airwaves with ads warning signing petitions puts you at risk for identity theft.
They also sent out their purple shirt mobs to intimidate signers.
Those are great questions to ask. Perhaps serve them tea or make them lunch...anything to keep them talking so it takes time away from gathering signatures.

I’m in Chicago, next block over I saw a guy with a recall Walker sign on his property! I’d say anything is justified in trying to “sabotage” this attempted big labor led coup.
I think it’s very unlikey anyone who signs a fake name would be caught. Not that I’m saying that’s a good idea or not.
