Nine earthquakes at this same site in the last day. This last one was the biggest.

Wow, indeed! Felt it here while typing at the computer in a top story room of our three-story very, very old Army house (built 1901) at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. We’re from northern California and know an earthquake when we feel one. Rather unsettling to have this old house quake and quiver. Yikes.

Just barely felt it in Manhattan, wouldn’t have identified it as an earthquake if the time hadn’t coincided with the USGS report of the 5.2 near Sparks, OK.

Yeah, I felt it too, here in KS.

I don't suppose there's hydraulic fracking going on near here? I discounted the claims that it caused earthquakes, now I'm not so sure ... we never had one here to my knowledge...

That far north? That is a big quake, so far I've seen people in KS, OK, TX, and AR felt it.

It was so loud. I don't remember the noise from my quake experiences in CA. Mostly then just shaking, even the water in the pool splashing out.

This one was like belly of the beast rumbling out here in the country.

Don't know, but I think I'd prefer fracking as the cause rather than Madrid getting angry. eep

In big earthquakes, you hear the sound before it hits.

I heard the Sylmar earthquake in 1971, it was a 6.8.

A huge roar then the getting smacked around for a bit.

Thanks for that... yeah... I knew it had to be at least 5 if the one last night was a 4.7.

I had no idea what was going on with the 4.7, and only suspected an earthquake after a few minutes.

Kind of scary to me that we felt it like that so far away... 100 miles away.

I wonder what it felt like in OKC?

Who here is closest to the epicenter?

Actually, I’m completely sober. But I still didn’t feel anything.

I was awake last night when the 4.7 happened. Could not feel that one up here.

I am a worrier. Wondering if there will be a next, bigger one will keep me awake for a while!

Back in the mid 90’s we had a 5+ here in the Puget Sound region.

I heard it before I felt it.

A 5 is not enough to do any real damage, but it sure as heck will get your sweat glands pumping!

My wife was totally freaked...

Yup, ours too. Got to watch our huge plate-glass windows shake like Jello, glad they didn’t shatter!

>>> I was awake last night when the 4.7 happened. Could not feel that one up here.

I was at my computer... the kitchen cabinets behind me started making funny noises, and my first thought was that a rafter or joist was giving way to gravity (suspended cabinets)
I was totally baffled at what I was hearing. I could not feel the ground shaking at all.

Tonight, the same sound in the cabinets started up again, only this time it was immediately followed by sounds of thunder outside and the ground shaking under my feet.

I really hope that is the biggest we experience, because I seriously doubt structures in this area are built to take much more than that.
