In 1928, Herbert Hoover was elected POTUS with 58.2 percent of the vote and 444 EVs to Al Smith's 87 EVs. During the Great Depression of the 30's, which started during his first, and only, term the encampments of the homeless and unemployed were named: "Hooverville". An empty front pocket pulled out of one's trousers was called the "Hoover Flag". He was decimated in the 1932 Election by FDR garnering only 39.7 percent of the vote.
Some have begun to "tag" these "Occupy" Encampments as "Obamaville". This clever, little ploy needs to pick up some steam in order to identify Obama's failed policies as the enemy of the people, not Capitalism. Then, we'll see how proud Nancy Pelosi and Michael Moore would be to identify with the "movement". It would be politically devastating for President Clueless.
In a 1930s movie scene (on TCM recently). One depression
displaced person says to another, "They say that prosperity's just
around the corner, but I keep looking. I must be on the wrong
street, because I don't see it."
I can't remember if the dump they were living in was referred to as a Hooverville.
Probably not, given the era.
Wasting away in Obamaville.
Great idea.
Thumbs up!
Al Smith was a Catholic and in that era because of his religion he was doomed from the start. The attacks on Mormon Romney are bland compared to what was said about Smith.
What could be done, is that Freepers from different
states, cities, could take pictures and send them into a
thread on Freerepublic and they could be captioned
OBAMAVILLE DENVER, OBAMAVILLE ATLANTA, etc., and spread
from there through other threads & e mails etc.
I’ve already been calling them that.:)
OBAMAVILLE
Nibb’lin on Soro’s cakes
Watching all the flakes
All of the haters of big banks and big oil
Strumm’in my six string
I don’t know a thing
But I smell poo here in the soil.
Wast’in away again in Obamaville
Searching for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim the big banks are to blame
But I know it’s the Democrats’ fault.
Don’t know the reason
Stayed here all season
Noth’in to show but the stench of the poo.
I saw a young beauty
She was a cutie
Get raped in a tent by a few.
Wast’in away again in Obamaville
Searching for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim the big banks are to blame
Now I think heck it could be the Democrats’ fault.
Threw rocks in some windows
I love how the news shows
We injured the police and they had to crack down.
Well there’s drugs in my tent now
Dig that fire we just set! Wow!
And I’m even getting paid to hang on.
Wast’in away again in Obamaville
Search’in for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim the big banks are to blame
But I know it’s the Democrats’ fault.
I just threw this together this am. Here is the music.

Together with some variant of Baynative's graphics above, which incorporate the Obama '08 campaign logo, it could become the iconic anti-Obama banner for 2012 much like "Sore-Loserman" was in the 2000 election aftermath.
I like it!
If someone with photoshop talent puts one together, we can all make our own signs and distribute them locally. I’ll be glad to stick a few up in and around Seattle.
THAT is a great idea!
“Welcome to Obamaville” signs should be at every one of their events.
Obamaville saying: It takes three villages and a forest of woodland creatures to raise a child in Obamaville
Although your right that many are too dense to change their minds, their disillusionment with Obama will lead to apathy on voting day. No “excitement”, no votes.
Obamaville:Five Trillion dollars and all I got was this stupid sign..?
email the suggestion to Cain.

In the ‘30s it was; trust me.
