Gov. Perry Unveils Jobs Plan (FULL TRANSCRIPT)
Cypress Times ^ | Oct 14, 2011 | Rick Perry

Pittsburgh: Gov. Rick Perry's Full Remarks on Energizing American Jobs

The central issue facing Americans is a lack of jobs.

The plan I present this morning, Energizing American Jobs and Security, will kick-start economic growth and create 1.2 million jobs.

It can be implemented quicker and free of Washington gridlock because it doesn't require congressional action. Through a series of executive orders, and other executive actions, we will begin the process of creating jobs soon after the inauguration of a new president.

The quickest way to give our economy a shot in the arm is to deploy American ingenuity to tap American energy. But we can only do that if environmental bureaucrats are told to stand down.

I honestly think that Newt can wipe the floor with obama when it comes to substance, history and knowledge.

I was for Perry but he can hardly express himself well, his stance on the border was the final straw for me.

1. The sudden cottage industry of “conservative” lies about Perry’s actual positions.

I see, anything that doesn't valid your emotion based opinion about Perry is now a "lie"

Nice little bubble world you have created for yourself there

EPA is NOT out of the way.

Perry will not issue EO’s without researching the legality of it. IF he does not have the authority...you can bet he’ll not touch it.

The man is clearly a simpleton.

That policy would end the use of EOs for ever.

Screaming an ignorant lie louder doesn’t magically change your fictions to fact Marty

Here is Laffer’s real background. Notice how completely different the facts are from you claims?

So which is it? Are you just this factually ignorant or are you just choosing to ignore the facts?

All presidents used executive orders. I posted you the link to the history, you just want to ignore everything, so you can bash Perry.

The environmental laws, like way too many laws these days, leave almost all implementation decisions up to the executive branch. Executive orders are how many of the regulations have been created by Obama, and so an executive order can rescind what Obama has done.

The EOs wouldn’t be circumventing legislation, like Obama’s did, they would be countering Obama’s extra-legislative actions.

The congress has granted a lot of power to the executive, and until we get a president who will sign bills to remove the executive power, we are stuck with the possibility that liberal presidents can ruin our economy by signing pieces of paper.

"A raft of new rules and foot-dragging by the EPA and Interior Department are killing job creation.......

If we face the facts, we know that none of these rules were needed to reduce emissions of the six principal pollutants by 50 percent since 1980. And they are not needed now, especially as our economy hangs in a fragile balance between recovery and recession.

Amen to that!

Perry had everything on his side. He was supposed to come into the race and not make mistakes. The guy has messed up so much, it is hard for a salvation.

This speech should have been before 1st debate and make others discuss in the debates. Some stupid, high paid consultant could not figure that out.

Romney is going to loose to obama. Let us be very clear. Almost, it looks like we are hurting one another. We might as well as put some real conservative candidate and if he looses, we can live by it. I think, we all have to consider Cain

Your use of quotes around conservatives when referring to those of us who have concerns with Perry is myopic. He is very conservative on several issues, not so much on others, and has changed his political positions over the years. For example, in 2008 he touted a tax reduction, but we Texas conservatives know he was the one who pushed that exact tax just a few years before, and we fought against it as much as we could at the time (I think it was about 2004: I contacted both my state rep and my stat senator--my state rep voted against it, but my state senator voted for the tax). Another example is Perry's attack of the then most conservative judge on the Texas Supreme Court, Judge Smith, a local version of Judge Bork.

For a good article of the long history surrounding Perry and Judge Smith, please see here:

http://news.yahoo.com/conservative-ire-perry-runs-deep-reflects-racial-politics-143009133.html

The point of my response is that your characterization of Texas conservatives who have issues with Perry as being ignorant or not really conservative reeks of a lack of knowledge of our state politics over the past 12 years. At the 2004 and the 2006 State Republican Party Conventions a major theme, which was reflected in our Party resolutions, was trying to keep the party away from a move to the center, and a majority of us were highly critical of many of Perry's actions.

That being said, I pray that when Texas votes in March, we have a viable conservative candidate to oppose Romney, and I would happy if that candidate is Perry (or maybe Cain—still researching, or Bachman or ....).

Yes...and Perry presented so well. It is not a gimmick like 999 tax plan. And when you look at the substance of the 999 tax plan...it becomes even more of a gimmick.
