Gov. Perry Unveils Jobs Plan (FULL TRANSCRIPT)
Cypress Times ^ | Oct 14, 2011 | Rick Perry

Pittsburgh: Gov. Rick Perry's Full Remarks on Energizing American Jobs

The central issue facing Americans is a lack of jobs.

The plan I present this morning, Energizing American Jobs and Security, will kick-start economic growth and create 1.2 million jobs.

It can be implemented quicker and free of Washington gridlock because it doesn't require congressional action. Through a series of executive orders, and other executive actions, we will begin the process of creating jobs soon after the inauguration of a new president.

The quickest way to give our economy a shot in the arm is to deploy American ingenuity to tap American energy. But we can only do that if environmental bureaucrats are told to stand down.

You need to stop. He answered the questions. He answered them coherently. Did he like that it was being pointed out that spending all that money to promote abstinence was not working ? No. Big deal.

You obviously know nothing about the US Mexican Border and have no interest in learning about it. We have over 1.1 to 1.2 million illegals in our state and Arizona and California are dealing with the same, although California doesn't seem to care. Your e-verify would overwhelm us in border states and start an even worse problem in identity theft then we already have. Freakanomics estimates that every child that will be born in the US for the next 50 years will be born with their social security number already stolen.

But since you don't care, then let me educate you about your guy Cain, he obviously is alright with giving tax-payer money (Texas does not) to Illegals because he supported Huckabee in 2008. Cain had no problem giving Huckabee money in 2008 when Huck sponsored AR House Bill 1525 that actually does give tax payer money to illegals. Justify that.

If a candidate wilts under the pressure of a debate, is confused or unable to respond effectively, how is he or she likely to perform as commander in chief?

It's an unavoidable question, and something that voters are going to determine while watching the candidates perform in live debate. There's simply no getting around it, no matter what sort of record a candidate has.

Do you really want our Commander in Chief to answer in 30 seconds sound bites or in a 3 second zinger under a tough situation? This is insane and it shows the total ignorance RED MEAT crowds who focus on stupid style over anything else and the irony is that they accuse everyone else of being ignorant. It is not a damn Hollywood movie people.

Agreed. Why do the gaffes of some candidates alarm us so much? Because intuitively we recognize that dealing with the pressure of the presidency is imperative. Watching a candidate lose focus, lose concentration and panic during something as relatively benign as a series of debates is a signal to us that they don't have the intelligence or personality it takes to deal with life and death situations, or with our mortal enemies.

The first seemingly unassailable thing you’ve posted about Perry. I’m sure it took you by surprise.

The approach he outlined is good. If he is elected, I hope he doesn’t get mired down in lawsuits, really. I like what the article reports; I hope that’s what is in his heart.

That said, he would have a sovereign country to administer and guide, and if his acceptance of illegals, if only inch-by-inch with in-state tuition, is an indication of how he would address our sovereignty, I’m not inclined to vote for him. Frankly, I think what he proposed is the same you could get from other candidates not predisposed to pandering to illegals and citizen hispanics.

Guilt by association does not really work.

Cain opposes illegal immigration, and based on his statements, seem willing to do something about it. Perry is not willing to do anything and he clearly despises the stupid heartless racist americans.

E-verify works well where it has been used. Likewise for fence.

heiss,

Are you aware that many of the landowners on the Texas-Mexico Border are Native Americans? Native American Indians. Think on that one.

Most are Apache Indians.

or that many landowners are heirs that have lived on those properties dating back to the 1700’s when the Spanish gave land grants out to people in that area and the land has been in their families (over 300 years)?

Apaches at the Texas border have formed a national working group coalition of supporters, attorneys, and fellow Apaches and other indigenous peoples to resist the seizure of their lands by the Federal Government.

This is just one little problem among many in relation to building a fence on the entire US/Mexico in Texas as pointed out by Txroadkill, Shield and others.

And consider this, building a fence on the entire 1200 mile Texas border would (after all the litigation required, imminent domain issues, courts, and then the actual building of the fence) would take longer than 10-15 years.

Perry’s solution to put fence in strategic areas (mostly in metropolitan areas) and military with high tech equipment can be done in a few months.

you said “so if some places there is a river”

The Rio Grande IS the border and the entire 1200 miles along Texas and Mexico IS a river. And the US/Texas border is actually in the middle of the river. There are also 2 very large lakes, a national park, mountains, steep cliffs and some resorts.

It worked ok in other border states because the US actually owned or had a right of way along the border.

That is not the case in Texas.

you said “then fence cannot be built anywhere”

Homeland Security did build a section of fence in the Brownsville area and they built the fence north of the river - unfortunately for some South Texans - their homes and land are BETWEEN the fence and Rio Grande river - Mexico. They live in a no mans land. Homeland Security put in a gate for them to get through - nice huh?

So besides obstacles mentioned above you would be spending billions and years of construction for something that is ineffective. It does not work - that has been proven.

Is that what you want?

How can you make ‘Stuff’ here to compete with ‘stuff’ made at chinese prison labor rates?

Perry is a complete lying ass; he knows what the economic forces are, but willingly leads fools like you on.

Cain has 200,000 dollars in his campaign bank account...he loaned himself 500,000 now he is down to 200,000. Now because of the lack of money he is boycotting Nevada Caucuses...you really think he is a serious candidate.

You obviously don’t know what your talking about.

Perry is against illegal immigration as well.
And has experience dealing with it.

He does not despise anyone. You are sounding like a child who got their feelings hurt. He was directing that comment to Romney, Santorum(sp?) and the moderator.

He is FOR e-verify but only after it has been fixed so that it is accurate.

If Cain says he wants to build a fence the entire Texas border, then he does not know the facts.

Spot on. The Palinistas seem to believe Perry’s entry into the race changed her mind. There’s also a lot of anti-illegal “fervor”, to be gentle. Too bad. Perry is probably one of the most conservative governors in the nation.

I agree that some people like Cain precisely because he has no experience, and I don’t think that’s a good thing. I also think they like him because they’re looking for a savior rather than a political candidate, and I don’t think that’s a good thing either.

I’m out of the country right now (in Central Europe) and I happened to turn on the TV this evening and I saw Cain speaking. I had heard him speak once before, and I thought he was good, although I wasn’t sure he had a lot of facts behind him if challenged - which he never was. However, I heard him tonight and I thought he was just throwing out lines that he had read somewhere and believed would appeal to his base (sort of buzz-words) and I am not feeling very positive about him now.

Look mouse brain, are you telling me that you haven’t come to grips with the fact that electing another RINO socialist won’t come close to holding what’s left of this country together?

Of what’s left, only Cain stands any chance of beating Obama, but I’m not quite convinced that his 999 nonsense is going to disappear after the election.

Look, I am a Perry supporter. What he said today is important to me. He will push for energy independence. So voters will have to follow through in their own state.

He made it clear in his speech, as you said, that it is up to the states. However, if he stands on the platform that he will facilitate and support this--I'm all out for him on it.

He has experience in this area, and no one can take that away from him. If you want to say it isn't up to the President, you can. However, you know that even if more states take advantage, it will help our country and economy in total.
