Global gun control report relied on deceptive statistics
Examiner.com ^ | 10 October, 2011 | David Codrea

Posted on 10/10/2011 11:31:33 PM PDT by Watchdog85

The anti-gun media latched onto the figure the GBAV authors conjured up—740,000 global deaths per year from “armed violence”—and ran with it.

The report was intended to exaggerate the deaths associated with weapons, and create public hysteria. The scam was easy to see—if only one would actually read the report.

That’s hardly surprising for those who follow the standard practice among gungrabbers to rely on lies, damn lies and statistics in order to bamboozle the ignorant into accepting their own disarmament. Recall the “90%” lie exploited to blame U.S. gun laws for Mexican cartel violence—a figure some evidently thought needed artificial boosting by way of “Project Gunwalker.” And it’s hardly surprising that an elite press that is overwhelmingly hostile to the right to keep and bear arms would welcome such deception, and repeat it wholesale without critical analysis.

200,000 fake numbers were added into the total of 740,000 violent deaths—27 percent!—and uncritically accepted as gospel by the media and anti-gun groups.

Isn’t it interesting that citizen disarmament advocates consistently resort to lying to you in order to persuade you that governments alone must be entrusted with a monopoly of violence? How can they possibly have your welfare as a free and sovereign individual in mind?

740,000 gun-related deaths?

OK. How many people were killed with knives or strangled to death? I’m sure it is far more than 740k, so why don’t we ban knives and hands? Or better yet, why not just eradicate Islam? That should save a few million lives every year.

Have very little to say to the gun grabbers; other than,
Stalin
Hitler
Pol Pot
Mao Tse Tung
Mussolini
Castro
these are just the ones that come off the top my head for the 20th century.
All of these people required that their citizens relinquish their fire arms for the safety of all.
I guess it is a lot safer to send your citizens to places like Auschwitz, Belzec, Treblinka, The Gulags and the killing Fields when they no longer have the means to resist.

I still insist that congress and the president do NOT have the authority to amend, suspend, revoke, edit, delete, suborn, or otherwise make ANY part of our constitution or bill of rights subject to U.N. mandate or treaty. A "Treaty" is not a valid means of amending our rights, the U.N. has no authority within the U.S. borders. I know, there is precedent, that does not mean that the alleged precedent is legitimate and correct. "No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it. The general rule is that an unconstitutional statute, though having the form and the name of law, is in reality no law, but is wholly void, and ineffective for any purpose, since unconstitutionality dates from the time of its enactment, and not merely from the date of the decision so branding it."
16th American Jurisprudence 2d, Section 177 late 2nd, section 256: "Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."
-- William Pitt "If by the mere force of numbers a majority should deprive a minority in any clearly written constitutional right, it might, in a moral point of view, justify revolution--and certainly would if such a right were a vital one." -- Abraham Lincoln, First Inaugural Address, 1861

I really hate it when FR crams my sentences together like that!

If you are threatening the life of the POTUS, our first Muslim President, that is a crime. /sarc

Yep. Our Rats are just globalists and socialists, who can't take off their masks quite yet.

(They must look at the Occupiers doing the Marxist Echo Chant and think, "cool it you guys! Not yet! You're blowing our cover.")

Yes, but their plans did not work out how they wanted. Now they have a hard choice (Go all in) or sneak away into the cracks to live another day like the roaches they are.

"No edit function here."

Do you mean to tell us that you can't use the FR Editor to type

"<P>"

-- then COPY it and PASTE it wherever you want a paragraph break?

What are you browsing with -- an "Etch-A-Sketch"?

FYI, the easy way to type "<P>" so that it is displayed (and not interpreted as a HTML command) is to use the following ASCII codes for the "less than" (<) and "greater than" (>) carets:

AMPERSANDlt; p AMPERSANDgt; (without spaces and using "&" in place of "AMPERSAND". (BTW, the "P/p" is not case sensitive - either will do.)

~~~~~~~~~~
(Wonder what happened to FR's "HTML Boot Camp" thread. I haven't been able to find it lately...) It used to be a great place to get help with HTML stuff like this -- and a great place to practice coding -- without messing up on a "real" thread...
You're still kind of a Noob so do you realize that the comment box requires HTML formatting, right.
Like this new paragraph I just made. Or this Bold Type or this BIG FONT, or a 'Tab and new paragraph' function called 'Blockquote'. It looks like....
These words here. And for Italics you use another HTML command.
Maybe you need a side trip to the FR HTML Sandbox for practice. We all need it at first so it's not Degrading or anything like that.
HTML Sandbox 2010 "SERIES", no offense meant, give it a try.
The U. N. can kiss my patoot and have my guns -- bullets first. Ditto for any US pol gun-grabber who attempts to take away my God Given Right.
But that's all hypothetical for now. I lost all my guns in a 'tragic' boating accident. And besides losing all my guns, all my ammo and extensive knife collection went down too.
see, when I say 'tragic', I mean it ;-)
FR claims that it displays what was typed, unless it “Detects” HTML.
I did not intentionally use any HTML, so expected to see just what I typed.
If you note the hour, it was late, I apparently missed an invisible HTML tag, mea culpa, I will go hang myself now for the shame.
Not.
Just type your reply as you would a normal composition with paragraphs, etc. But, DO NOT use any HTML code in your paragraph and your spaces will hold. If you need to use HTML because you are including a link, or some other reason, then you need to separate your paragraphs with the pragraph sign which is just a p surrounded with brackets < > and no spaces between the brackets and the p, i.e. < p>. I have to make a space there where it shouldn’t be so that you can see the figures. In real life, there are no spaces.
