Poll: Cain surges, opens up 20-point lead on Romney
By Alexis Levinson - The Daily Caller
1 hr 9 mins ago

In news sure to inject shock and awe into the Republican political primary season, a Zogby poll released Thursday showed Herman Cain leading the Republican field, topping former front-runner Mitt Romney by an astonishing 20 points. Cain would also narrowly edge out Obama in a general election, the poll found, by a 46“44 margin.

Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, would lose by a point to the president, 40 percent to 41 percent. Texas governor Rick Perry, who has slipped in the polls of late, would lose to the president 45 percent to 40 percent.

The poll found that 38 percent of Republican primary voters said they would vote for Cain if the primary were held today. Eighteen percent said they would throw their support to Romney, while 12 percent each said they would vote for Perry and Texas congressman Ron Paul. No other candidate attracted double-digit support.

zogby, polls are still no meaning. An outlier generated to sway the RCP poll average. There is still Romney, and how much money does any candidate have?

I was thinking that if it were Herman vs Zero, Herm would have home field advantage because . . .

Obama is only half.

LOL! My guess is he’ll say something like “oh well these poll will be going up and down a lot in coming weeks. Not a permanent picture. Don’t be an ingratiator when writing to the Factor.”

Most Palin fans will go with Cain. That really can not be ignored. Cain could pull a huge upset here. A contest between him and Obama would be highly entertaining, if only I believed Obama would be the democratic nominee. Too bad. It would have been a lot of fun.

I think there is a direct correlation between this death rattle on the left and all the protests and the surge in the perceived conservative in the race. Obama is merrily tacking far left and the MSM has been feeding him the much needed propaganda to bolster his delusion(Polls showing tax the rich, well tax everyone except my boss). The MSM is back to lying about the economy and puffing up its moribund numbers to make Obama seem better. The left has been vocal the last couple of weeks but that has not translated into Obama's numbers going up. The right and middle are motivated and I don't think any level of far left turnout can help him now. Watch as these protest turn into the annual G-7 riots and Obama has to circle a square and appear to distance himself.

0bama and his administration have an

“impenetrable melanin-based criticism shield”

that no white man could get past.
Herman Cain can and will “get past” it, and his beliefs are sound.

The surge you see is due to the Palinites jumping on the Cainwagon.

I would love to see Cain as the nominee

Me too! And...

While color plays no part in my politics...I do have to say there would be some sweet justice in a Cain-Obama matchup.

Money does matter, but not as much as the message.

The Path to Citizenship means coming here legally NOT illegally. Empower the states to do what the Feds won’t do includes deportation, and can supports AZ SP1070

Illegal Entitlement Is Not An Option

Obamacare (from the link above)

The majority of Americans agree: it’s time to repeal and replace Obamacare with patient-centered, free market reforms. It’s time to institute legitimate tort reforms that let doctors practice medicine without fear of frivolous lawsuits. Loser pay laws would be a great start! That is, require those who lose frivolous lawsuits to pay the legal expenses of those found not guilty. Additionally, loosening the restrictions on Health Savings Accounts would help to empower Americans to save and invest their own money to expand their options for health care.

The state of Massachusetts will have to deal with the atrocity of Romneycare.

Herman Cain is a Christian and descendent of African slaves.

Barack 0bama is a descendent of Mahometan slave traders.

You are exactly right about the average Palin supporter. She stood out for being staunch and outspoken in her conservative beliefs, and for being unafraid of both the MSM and the GOP Establishment. Ditto Cain. Added to which, as some have mentioned, Cain takes the fight to Obama as a true black man against a man who has used the race card solely to benefit himself all his life. Cain would mop the floor w him, and Obama would have a stroke in the middle of their first debate.

Cain seems to be the GOP candidate most willing and able to champion conservative principles. He's very skilled at communicating his ideas and he's got an impressive track record running businesses in the private sector - which is important in the next election, given our economic circumstances. I find Cain far more impressive than Perry, who so far has come across as inarticulate, gaffe-prone and just plain wrong on illegal immigration and border security. Romney strikes me as an empty suit with no credibility as a conservative.

I am puzzled by Cain's book tour at this point, however. There's a possibility he'll squander his momentum, and it makes me wonder how seriously he's taking this presidential run.
