Cain seems to be the GOP candidate most willing and able to champion conservative principles. He's very skilled at communicating his ideas and he's got an impressive track record running businesses in the private sector - which is important in the next election, given our economic circumstances. I find Cain far more impressive than Perry, who so far has come across as inarticulate, gaffe-prone and just plain wrong on illegal immigration and border security. Romney strikes me as an empty suit with no credibility as a conservative.

I am puzzled by Cain's book tour at this point, however. There's a possibility he'll squander his momentum, and it makes me wonder how seriously he's taking this presidential run.

The book schedule is not interfering with his campaign, it is meant to help boost his name recognition and was planned from the beginning.

He is getting name recognition. Going on a book tour of all 50 states. He is still campaigning. He is just doing two things at once.

Candidates, not Cain, beg borrow and pay people to show up at their 20 people campaign stops, where as the line for a Cain book signing is two miles long.

The book tour and campaign are not mutually exclusive.

The book is subtitled “My Road to the White House” and is designed to introduce Herman Cain to the public at large. He’s also meeting lots of people at his signing events, in a very “grass roots” fashion.

It’s an unorthodox campaign strategy but as he is the true Tea Party candidate it’s very fitting, isn’t it?

He was in the area on Wednesday but I already had plans. I’m so bummed I didn’t get to meet him. I went to three bookstores today to try to get his book and it was sold out. So I’m ordering it online. BTW he used to have an autographed copy available for a $150.00 donation but it is no longer on his site, I figure it sold out there too. I’ve been a monthly donor since he announced but I wish I had made the additional donation to get the autographed book.

After all, he’s the next President of the United States :-)
