According to a source with knowledge of the inner workings of SarahPAC, inside the Palin world it’s still a possibility that she might run. However, as the deadline approaches not even her staff knows what she will decide.
ABC News has separately learned that the Palin team is well aware of the filing deadlines and are keeping abreast of the changes in the deadline. Politico reported Tuesday that a law firm that employs an attorney representing SarahPAC had been making calls to early states inquiring about presidential filing deadlines. SarahPAC would not confirm the report to ABC News. When reached by ABC News, Mark Braden—the attorney mentioned in the Politico report—would also not comment or confirm the report or that he even works with Palin.
As the days creep toward those state filing deadlines, no new staff has been hired. Her core group of about seven staffers runs the organization while a volunteer group completely independent of SarahPAC called Organize4Palin or O4P tries to lay the groundwork in states, most notably Iowa. Those close to Palin acknowledge the decision is hers to make alone with her husband, Todd, and that she could decide the day before the first filing deadline that she wants to throw her hat in the ring....

Um, help me out here, because I'm seeing a non sequitur in your argument, and a factual error as well.
The factual error is that the existing rules as she found them failed to comply with Alaskan constitutional law that required the people of Alaska to benefit from severed oil, gas, etc. Her ACES program was new legislation, a wholesale replacement of the corrupt Murkowski plan, a change in the rules, designed to a) break the crony deal-making that was being used to short-change the people of Alaska and b) impose what amounts to a severance tax to meet the aforementioned constitutional requirement.
Having said that, you then link that with Todd wearing TESORO shirts, and then leap wildly to the conclusion that she is not running.
I am sorry, but not only do I not see that sequence as following logically from the mangled premise you set up, but instead I see the opposite conclusion flowing more naturally from those facts, when correctly understood. ACES is a demonstration of the economic good that can happen in the private sector when laws are intentionally designed to inhibit the wasteful and corrupt symbiosis that often develops between private sector businesses and government (aka crony capitalism). It is one of the principal items on her resume that shows why she is so right for the job she is now seeking, and her putting it out there for the public to consider is tantamount to presenting that resume to the American people, or put another way, the act of a serious, running candidate.
As for the TESORO shirt, yes, Todd is in the Iron Dog, but that race doesn't happen until February 19, 2012, and only takes about two days to run for a proficient racer like Todd. Surely you don't believe the Palin's would allow something so relatively minor to alter or even have any remotely noticeable effect on their larger plans? Your proposed connections are making no sense to me. As I said, your conclusion is a non sequitur.

Not saying they are stunts but it’s not going to make a big dent in the budget. We’re going to have to really transform some very important parts of government, such as social security and medicare.
I wouldn’t have a problem with Palin-Cain. Just that somebody on the ticket needs to be able to handle tricky things such as the precise economic impact of Obamacare (and not just the general philosophical problems) or making a strong case against global warming.

Honestly Rita, your characterizations of Palin are so far over the top, that they've gone clear around to the left side of the political thought spectrum.
That's the sort of venom-laced opinion we see from Bill Maher, Ed Shultz, Keith Olbermann, and Rachel What's-his-name.
As I said, Palin's sale of the Governor's jet and her letting the state chef go, are indicative of her general modus operandi of protecting the public purse.
I could stop what I'm doing and cite specific examples of her above average ability to tackle the tough and seemingly intractable problems she was faced with as Governor, but I'm sure you've seen them posted before. In a nutshell, she was perhaps the most effective Governor that Alaska has seen in a generation, and her effective leadership and management of her state was born out by her incredibly high approval rating among Alaskans.
Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of her book, "Going Rogue", if you want to read the play-by-play of her amazing twenty year career in state government. It's chock full of exemplary accomplishments. Stephen Bannon's "The Undefeated" just hit the shelves at Wal-Mart today. You can get most of the story by watching that, as well.

Yes she is a capable problem solver. But if she were to talk about global warming, for example, it will be hard for people to even give her a chance to make her case from the very beginning. But if we said, here’s this guy who is a math dude and understands things of a technical nature, people will listen and consider what he is trying to say.
Remember that one of the most important powers of the presidency is the power to persuade using the bully pulpit. Cain is a strong speaker and is not some wimpy nerd like Mitch Daniels or someone with a lot of baggage, such as Newt. We don’t find this combination in a candidate very often.

Yup Flier, I'll laugh at all that has been going on here, for a couple of years, when president Palin takes the oath of office.
Why do you say that? Palin is one of the most capable conservative speakers we've seen in a long time. She's got well-developed thoughts and positions on a wide range of subjects, and is better informed than most of the current candidates, in my opinion.

I agree, and if you've noticed, Sarah Palin has been effectively using the bully pulpit of her popularity to put her ideas and positions forth. Not only that, she's fearlessly taken on the current administration and even Congress from that same bully pulpit. For someone who's not a declared candidate, she's been first up, and front and center on nearly every scandal and outrage coming out of Washington these last two and a half years. No one has been more outspoken than she has. Now imagine what she'd do with the bully pulpit of the presidency.

I've noticed Cain shooting from the hip, but I don't know that he's hit the target every time. He actually shot himself in the foot with the N-rock deal. What I haven't heard from Cain are well-developed policy positions, such as I've heard from Palin. She's rocked the house with her speeches and articles at least once a month on average over the last year or two. Haven't seen that from Cain yet.
I like Cain, but I'm still waiting for the statesman-like, presidential Herman to emerge.
Cain has No government experience at all which is not going to mesh at all with the how government works. You can have opinions and great ideas but if you don’t know the system you have to impliment these in then there’s a ‘huge’ learning curve involved for Cain....
Only one Pres. lacked Gov. experience in these past elections and that was Eishenhower....but he did have strong military experience over the armed forces.......
I don’t think that equals Cains pizza chains and his experience bringing them back with a staff of high school students. He needs to get some governance under his belt.

That’s what advisers are for. :)
Advisers are fine when you’re not stepping into a firefight, an economic earthquake, and a congress which is more than stalled. It will not be the time to “ask” how can we get this done, or be in the learning curve mode while the boat is sinking.
CAin’s company permoted him to a position of bringing failing pizza shops Because he had shown he knew HOW to do that, as well as ‘navigate the terrain’ he would be stepping into. He had proved himself capable for the task. Then he began purchasing those as he went along.....but he had to know the terrain. Cain does not know Washingtons Terrain.....it would be like promoting him to Captain of a Great Ocean Liner when he hasn’t yet steered a dingy thru rough waters.
Windflier..I do like Cain and where he stands on issues....but he’s not solid enough in what he says, more that it’s what people want to hear. I’m concerned he’s biting off more than he can chew too fast...and some of his responses indicate that.
He’s certainly likable and he carries the conservative views pretty much...but in other areas he’s simply not informed enough to speak with conviction about...and I’m not convinced he could handle Washingtons terrain without some sort of governing experience first. It’s very concerning to me.
However I would like to see him in WAshington in some compacity so he can get some seasoning under his belt...I think he could easily go far if he plays his cards right.
