Soon, any thought that differs from that mandated by Liberals will be a crime.

Making fun of kids has been going on since Jesus’ time. Jesus was probably made fun of for one thing or another when he was a little boy. In my day, we used to have “slam books”. It was basically a note book that you put everyone’s name in the book and then you write things about people. Man you should have seen the crap they were saying about me.....Wow!!!!! My very best friends even said some shocking things. However, being the immature self I was, I did the same to others. It is part of growing up. I don’t believe for one moment that nobody has been made fun of. Every kid has been made fun of for one thing or another. Buck up kids.......I was called fart face, ugly ass, boring, disgusting, freak, and that was just from my friends.....lol. We are raising a bunch of pansy’s and it is not good for the country at all.

To begin with, if he was being bullied online, why did he keep going online? The way to stop "bullying" is to quit going where it is, and not silencing everyone.

Secondly, no middle school kid knows, or should know, about what kind of sex they "like". If he was attracted to other boys there was a problem and I'd bet it involved an adult.

That said, I will add that kids now believe that they can say and do anything they want to someone else without repercussions. Now that society has "killed" God, there are no consciences to violate and no dues need to be paid

Does anyone know - is it legal to follow someone on the street and say these things? Is that protected speech as long as there isn’t a threat, profanity or physical contact?

I’m just curious if the laws on the books with respect to harassment, disorderly conduct etc can be used in these cases.

I sure am glad I’m not a teenager anymore!

“Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 yrs old, took his life because of bullying. Bullying must become be illegal. It is a hate crime.”

How about we make suicide illegal?

In my day, bullies just beat you up on your way home and left you lying by the side of the road. We have become so wussified that just calling someone a name is bullying and must be controlled by the law.

Jamey was an openly gay student at his middle school

I see the problem here.

From what I read early on...he was teased...but he himself never said he was gay and his parents never said he was gay....But the gay people around here decided he was gay. This kid was in therapy. Apparently, he had a lot of problems.

Now, can someone tell me why his parents let him participate and join in the bullying sessions on the web?? He's 14.

I don't think we're ever going to know the REAL story. No one has said a peep on how he committed suicide.

Can anyone fill in any of the blanks??

They’re using this unfortunate lad’s story to basically criminalize Christianity. Bet on it.

BTW, I was bullied in elementary and junior high school and it wasn’t for being gay. No pop stars were out looking for me. In fact I had virtually no support. Being on the receiving end of that kind of treatment is truly horrible and I don’t wish it on anybody. But I don’t want a good kid’s future ruined and his freedom taken away just for saying, “The Bible says it’s a sin.”

When my daughter was in 8th grade she was incessantly picked on by three so called mean girls. My wife and I constantly told her that words from morons should be ignored. One day she came home and said one of the girls had thrown a punch that stopped short of her face. I immediately wrote the principal that my daughter was under instructions not to allow anyone to lay hands upon her and not only would she defend herself but she knew how, and that i would hold the school accountable if they chose equal consequences for any altercation. Those girls spent the next 8 weeks having their lunch with the class guidance counselor, not their friends. Very often it’s up to parents to demand action.

I live in the area and I am sick to death of this story..THERE WAS NO NOTE there is no way of knowing why this young man killed himself.. we have never heard how this young man died.. last I heard an autopsy was going to be preformed ...

He left NO NOTE that he was doing this because he was bullied or any other reason..

But the liberals and gay rights folk are using this to further their agenda ...the latest is legislation stopping bulling... imagine enforcing that ...and never mind we do have a constitutional right to free speech..

Hate crimes, well, last time I heard, any time a person intentionally harms someone with some sort of malice beforehand, that person hated their target. I heard someone claim that corporate-motivated crimes weren’t hate, well yes, even those crimes involve malice beforehand in order to commit them.
