Teen pregnancy among Hispanics is rising in Montgomery County, bucking a countywide trend of falling birth rates. The birth rate for Hispanic 15- to 17-year-olds was 39.7 births per 1,000 females in the period from 2007 to 2009 -- the most recent for which data is available. That is a jump from 33.3 births between 1996 and 1998 and only a slight drop from the 41.6 rate from 2006 to 2008, according to the Maryland Vital Statistics Administration.

Get used to it. This is the direction America is going. Between 40% and 50% of the children born in America today are born to umarried parents. For African Americans the rate is almost 90% for hispanics it is almost 80%. The government policies supporting these programs are working. A smaller percentage of taxpayers are supporting not only their own children but other children as well. And 15 to 19 year old girls are told have sex, get pregnant, get free money.
that’s right.
the county with the highest rate probably is imperial county in california where they don’t produce much
but taxpayer parasites.
... what better way to collect all the entitlements out there.
Perhaps they view having a baby out of wedlock and collecting welfare as comparable to being “employed” by the U.S. Govt.
“They’re” providing a “product” for which the Govt is reimbursing them ... therefore, they are being productive
undocumented citizens.
One idea I have:
If an under-18 teen gets knocked up, her PARENTS are expected to be responsible. PERIOD. Unless the teen is an orphan or something.
Lack of a dad in these girls’ homes is a big part of it too...
I remember a day when a teen girl got pregnant, that the teen boy who did the deed got taken behind the woodshed by her dear old dad and got a quick lesson in what he better do and not do.
If her dad isn’t even around, that makes the whole thing a lot harder.
Why do we never call out the Democrat party for the failures of the war on poverty?
Welfare as we know it became an entitlement program in the ‘60s as part of LBJ’s war on poverty.
There was a time in this country when a girl who got pregnant without a husband couldn’t just go and get on public assistance.
That all changed because we didn’t want to be judgemental as to why a girl had a baby without a husband.
But when things reach a critical mass as they have today, in which a majority of babies among some groups of people are born into public assistance, out of wedlock, and expect to live their entire lives there, is this really a good solution to the problem of out of wedlock pregnancy?
And has the very fact of public assistance programs encouraged illegitimacy???
Are we allowed to ask some politically incorrect questions about these matters???
More people like me, high salary, have determined to opt out of this taxpayer support for slackers system. Paid off everything I owe and am going to retire to live off what little I can get from SS. My taxes will go to virtually nothing. I’ve got all I need and am tired of the ‘extras’ that I pay so dearly for.
See how many illegals and welfare babies can be supported when more and more people start opting out.
Most of these illegals have more than one ID. So they can collect their benefits two or three times for the same children. Often children are claimed more than once. The system is full of fraud.
***Pregnancy rates among 15-19 year old Hispanic girls are increasing dramatically.****
My Sister-in-law worked as a substitute teacher in Texas for years.
One day while walking down the hall she overheard some hispanic teachers laughing, and one said, in a real loud voice,...”WE ARE TAKING BACK TEXAS, ONE BABY AT A TIME!”
My SIL no longer lives in Texas.
Your guesses are a little too high. The article you posted showed the Black teen birth rate declining.
There’s a reason for that. If you reward certain behavior, you get more of it.
I’ve told this story before: at my last office, there was a girl who did clerical work, probably made $12 an hour. White girl from a normal family. She accidentally got pregnant. To her credit she did not have an abortion. She left to have the baby, and when she came back to show it off to the other women in the office, we asked her when she was returning to work.
She recoiled at the suggestion. She said that with all the state, county, and local aid she’s getting in this county, the baby has made her live far better than she ever could while trying to hold a job. She now had a very nice apartment which she could never have afforded on $12 an hour and was able to stay home with her baby, go to the pool, and generally have a nice time. She was going to get pregnant again as soon as possible and then she’d do even better financially. She thought three or four kids would be good. Had no plans to work again, ever. Life was good.
With this incentivization of out-of-wedlock pregnancy, why should anyone refrain from getting pregnant? Why should they work? Why should they get married?
After they give birth, send them to Texas so they can get a low cost college education and easy admission, ahead of your kid, to the college of their choice.

The larger points I made are still true.
La Raza reports plans for reconquista running on schedule.
Often children are claimed more than once.
Go to a social services and check out how many kids come out and get shirts and pants changed and they are taken back in by someone else.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Wonder why religious leaders were not asked to comment about this ?
Ping!
I’m sure it’s not a crisis for these teenagers.
You get what you pay for.
Living in and around this area, I’m just sick of seeing it. Every other one has a pushed out belly and two or three others, pushing a stroller, etc.
NEVER are there fathers around.
Worked in a public health center once during nursing school — we would make home visits to the squatting houses of these illegals — always pregnant and never married. Many of them, were, however, living with their “man” in high style while he worked in landscaping or construction.
And I mean — they were living in NICE, spacious apartments, flat screen tv’s, etc. Could never really figure out why the HELL they were receiving so many welfare benefits.
