Perry: "I Don't Think You Have a Heart" If You Oppose In-State Tuition for Children of Illegal

Full title: Perry: "I Don't Think You Have a Heart" If You Oppose In-State Tuition for Children of Illegal Immigrants

Perry's response was forceful and personal. "I don't think you have a heart," Perry told his critics.

"If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they've been brought their through no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart," Perry said. "We need to be educating these children because they will become a drag on our society. I think that's what Texans wanted to do. Out of 181 members of the Texas legislature when this issue came up [there were] only four dissenting votes. This was a state issue. Texas voted on it. And I still support it today."

If you think we should treat these children like the criminals they aren’t,

- - - - -
Aren’t they?? Up until we moved out of state, I spent years listening to the local news and police scanners in So Cal. Well over 90% of the criminals on the crime report and the calls on the scanner were about 14-23 yr old illegal Mexicans.

One night we were actually surprised to see a white American teenage criminal. It is that rare.

If they don’t respect our immigration laws, they won’t respect any of our other laws either.

Texas is where California was in 1970 - the commercial wonder of the nation. But, just like California, Texas has invited the wolf to the dinner table.

Just as illegal aliens played a major role in destroying California, they will play a major role in destroying Texas but it won’t take 20 or 30 years because the trickle has become a flood.

Not giving them in-state tuition is not the same thing as treating them like criminals.

My daughter looked at a book the school counselor gave her about different scholarships. She looked through the whole thing and said, “Mom, I don’t think there are any scholarships for white kids.”

I told her she could say she’s a lesbian quadriplegic Native American, African-American Hispanic Jew...

One of her good friends is Hispanic. They both were invited to take part in some youth leadership conference in Washington DC. My daughter couldn’t go because we couldn’t afford it but the other girl (who unlike us gets free lunches; a family of four with both parents working full-time with good-paying jobs) was able to go. There was a write-up in the paper about how great it was that she was chosen to receive this honor, etc. There was a show on educational TV that focused on her and the other Hispanic kid in the school who is well-integrated into the American culture. The whole thing is to show off the Hispanics who have done well. We have no idea whether these families are legal or illegal, although I think my daughter said her friend is legal but has family members who are illegals so she supports illegal immigration.

These people are friends, and we are happy for their success. But we also recognize that because so many of the Hispanics in our area have just come across the border the kids are not well-integrated and there aren’t a lot of American success stories among them. That doesn’t fit the agenda. So those who do well have to be very visibly displayed and coaxed onward every way possible. Which includes lots of scholarships and awards that a non-Hispanic kid who was just as deserving would never get.

So who - in all that - is being treated like a criminal?

You are so typical of the liberal Perrybots around here. I have no idea what you are trying to say here. Take a couple of Prozacs and get some sleep and try again tomorrow.

Perry said pretty much the same thing as Perry - it’s for the children.

I’m not sitting it out by any means, but I will go 3rd party. I WILL NOT EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER vote for Romney or Huntsman. I will vote against them and Obama.

So far none of the candidates are getting me excited. I like Cain but he has no traction. Perry is now out. Like Bachmann but she lost a lot when Perry stepped in. I suspect Perry will endorse Romney and Romney is a no go.

I don’t believe Palin will run. Puts me in a quandary, but I have to stand my ground on this one, I will not vote for the trash the GOP has been putting out. I cannot and live with myself.

The GOP is shooting themselves in the foot if they don’t listen to the revolution that is brewing.

How Texans spend their tax revenue is their business. Regarding fan out, it seems to be an issue of educated or uneducated illegals. I’m not sure which is worse.

Like I said, Texans had a veto-proof majority in passage of that bill. Maybe there’s a logical reason that made sense to the taxpayers of Texas.

Perry, Cain, or possibly Palin. What other options do we have?

I'm tired of the Perry sycophants on FR.

Perry is a do-gooder statist, at best.

TO ME HE'S LIKE MEG WHITMAN. HE'LL SAY ANYTHING, DO ANYTHING HE THINKS WILL BRING HIM THE MOST VOTES IN THE MOMENT.

And just like Meg, he has no political sense or compass.

This man is not grounded in principle, he is only interested in what is good for him personally.

He's going after "the middle" with his illegal pandering. It's calculated and it's been ongoing for a long time.

To hell with Perry and his supporters.

At the expense of American taxpayers?

Perry has intentionally encouraging millions of illegals to flood into Texas by aiding, abetting and pandering to them. Ya don't reward lawlessness GD it.

It's costing us hundreds of billions, choking off our hospitals, social services, welfare, jails, schools, and compromising and undermining our very electoral process etc.

Then he offers illegals coupons and incentives?

I've been told a thousand times, in California, all the illegals are the fault of Californians, and they deserve everything they get, yet in Texas, it's suddenly the feds problem, and Perry is just a powerless innocent by-stander.

All while illegals are having nearly 1000 anchor babies per month at Dallas Parkland Hospital.

Ya think anyone buys this crap?

Aren’t they??

No, they are NOT criminals.

They are children of people who broke laws (which are not being enforced) and who have not committed any crimes on their own. Most of these Children have never been to the country of their parent's origin and I guess we should just drive them to the border and dump them on the other side, huh?

Sorry, but this problem was created by the Federal Government refusing to enforce the laws, and these kids are victims of circumstance. But then I guess we should just take them to the border in trains and if they don't leave, just shoot them.

Here we go - the first attack on a palin supporter. When you cant dazzle’em with brilliance, baffle them with BS.

“And if Perry liked the Arizona law, he could have had a similar one introduced last year in Texas.”

He didn’t like it and is spinning what he plainly said months ago:

Build a wall around Texas until Perry stops catering to illegals? ;)

Kidding aside, Texas laws are having an effect on the rest of the states. It’s not just you. It’s the other 49 that have to deal with the fallout.

Of course I want Palin in and I think she would be an improvement by far to what we have now. But the states ALL have to do their part too. And that means stopping/ending laws that assist illegals.
