Perry's response was forceful and personal. "I don't think you have a heart," Perry told his critics.
"If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they've been brought their through no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart," Perry said. "We need to be educating these children because they will become a drag on our society. I think that's what Texans wanted to do. Out of 181 members of the Texas legislature when this issue came up [there were] only four dissenting votes. This was a state issue. Texas voted on it. And I still support it today."

The fact of the matter is that Texas did not cause the problem, Washington did. Texas is dealing with the problem the best they can under the circumstances. Perry is a brave man for standing up for his State and for these children without a country. He isn't going to make many friends on this forum. Oh well, there's always Sarah Palin (who probably feels the same way as Perry, but isn't running).

We are talking about 1% of college freshmen in Texas. And they pay the same tuition as any other resident. They PAY it. If you're trying to cloud the issue with some type of reference to Pell grants and other reimbursements, you might have a leg to stand on. Albeit puny and lacking of flesh. Even there, these students have to EXCEED the talent of others to reach that distinct place in the competition.
