The NINE(!) Candidates:
Michele Bachmann
Bachmann is serving her 3rd full term in the U.S. House. Founder of the House Tea Party Caucus, worked as a tax attorney, and was a foster mother for 23 teenagers. She is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Herman Cain
Cain is the former chief executive of Godfather's Pizza and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He lost the Georgia Republican primary for a U.S. Senate seat in 2004. He was recently the host of Atlanta-based radio show.
Newt Gingrich
Gingrich served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district as a Republican member from 1979 to 1999. He has a PhD in modern European history.
Jon Huntsman
Huntsman was Utah Governor, former ambassador to China under Barack Obama.
Ron Paul
Paul is serving his 11th full term in the U.S. House. Hes an ob-gyn and was Libertarian nominee for president in 1988. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008
Rick Perry
Perry is the three term governor of Texas, from 2000 to current. He is a retired Air Force captain for former farmer. He has a degree in animal science.
Mitt Romney
Romney was governor of Massachusetts (2003 to 2007) and former CEO of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican 2008 nomination for president. He has an MBA (Harvard) and JD (Harvard Law).
Rick Santorum
Santorum served two terms in the U.S. House and two terms in the U.S. Senate. He became the Senate's third-ranking Republican in 2001. He was defeated for reelection in 2006.
Gary Johnson
Johnson served as governor of New Mexico from 1995 to 2002. He founded what would become one of the largest construction companies in New Mexico. He has competed in several triathlons and climbed Mount Everest.
Mr. Gingrich has come out in favor of cap and trade to mitigate anthropogenic global warming, a disqualifying position for me.
Ronald Reagan was a great man and President! He was my favorite president!
Patience! Look how smart she was to let Perry enter and get vetter before she took the focus off of him!
Does anybody ever criticize Romney in the debates?
There’s certainly a lot to criticize.
Never mind, I guess I missed too much, people are saying Perry was FAIL.
I don’t know how much effect this debate will have though.
I don’t like or trust either guy. I’m with Palin all the way. Bob
Why not?
*****************
Why don’t I like her any longer?
Small, unimportant things bothered me and built but the big turn for me was the Perry deal.
Her anecdote of the sad crying lady with the daughter who was made mentally retarded by this vaccine.
The EO was rejected and there had been an opt out. So Perry didn’t cause that. The mother allowed the daughter to be vaccinated.
Perry also said he made a mistake with the EO, that didn’t matter to Michele she became indignant and emotional.
For that sad anecdote, there are many sad stories of women suffering cancer or worse, they have died. They would have given everything to have had that vaccination, that may have protected them.
Chemo is poison but it is hope when you have cancer, makes the possible odds on that preventative vaccine start to look pretty darn good. I believe Michele has been selfish and has done a disservice in making this vaccine political.
The whole emotional telling of that story reminded me of the dems during health care talks—the woeful story of the lady wearing her dead sisters false teeth.
Then came the emails of how offended she was. That became annoying, petty seeming even.
I started to see her as shrill and emotional (everything women get stereo-typed for and I am female) and I could no longer visualize her hammering things out with world leaders.
Why attack so hard and heavy so soon?
Perry was good competition against Romney and Romney would be the one to take out first for many reasons—Romneycare with funded abortions being the most obvious one. There are many on others as if that isn’t enough.
Romney is the GOP favorite, it is his turn—McCain bumped Romney the last time, Romney was nice so it is his turn. With Michele’s numbers and her campaign finances— she knows she isn’t going to win this.
YET she STILL started with her Perry obsession AGAIN on Hannity tonight. She is focused like a laser on taking Perry down—even when it won’t help her. Why not take Romney down a few notches before she goes down?
It gives the appearance of Bachmann being a GOP shill or at the very least—her ambitions are more important than her beliefs.
I also think she seems to have gotten a bit of a big head.
But another follow the money tie has gone unnoticed. Rick Perrys wife Anita had been a Merck consultant while working in a lobbying firm as her husband climbed the state government ladder. Anyone think thats Tea Party ideals?
Do you have any valid links to prove your accusations?
100% with you. I used to joke maybe we should've invaded Mexico, not Iraq. Given a choice between "Made in China" or "Made in Mexico" I do what I can to keep Mexican's working in Mexico.
I traveled throughout the country 30 years ago. It's a great place with a rich history but I'd never go back with the cartel violence as it is.
Perry said that this past year, 16K qualified out of 25 million.
They pay for it themselves, any discount is on the back Texans who passed the bill with only 4 dissenting votes.
The ultimate reasoning is that Texans have their hands tied on deporting these people, and we can reduce the burden on the Texas tax payer by providing a path to make these people productive.
Perry is in no way giving these people special privileges over US citizens
Agreed
Isnt it amazing that Fred Thompson was vetted for having health issues but Wallace makes Cain out to be a Hero for having stage 4 cancer?
These are the two links I came across when I was looking for info on the woman that met with Perry

http://michellemalkin.com/2011/09/13/the-right-and-wrong-way-to-talk-about-gardasil/
By the way, they are not my accusations, they were items I came across and posted.
A source in the Perry camp tells me that the ads central allegation that Perrys wife, Anita, worked for Merck is false. To see just how dishonest this line of attack is, just check out the link that the super-PAC helpfully provides. Several years and an entirely different field (osteoporosis) separate Mrs. Perrys consulting work from the Gardasil controversy, and Rick Perry wasnt even governor yet. This is on the level of Dick Cheney went to war in Iraq for Halliburton!!!!11!1!1! and should be treated with about as much respect. And if this is the standard that Bachmann wants to set, then it becomes reasonable to ask about the donations she has accepted from Mercks direct Gardasil competitors.
Sorry bub, but you can't blame Sarah Palin for Perry screwing the pooch last night.
If we start at the beginning, since we know where these kids are that want to go to college, we might be able to find their parents, right? So, let’s find the parents and return them to Mexico - the key here is they are here illegally.
With that out of the way, and since nobody seems to want to do that, let them go to college and since they are not from Texas (they’re from Mexico, usually) they pay the cost that anyone NOT FROM TEXAS would pay.
This seems like another issue that keeps the conversation away from the problem - and that is the communist in the White House. Don’t get distracted by minutiae. Perry may think it is a good idea to do this but it is a state issue and if he were try it as President, he’ll have the House (and hopefully, a Republican Senate) to deal with and it won’t work.
Perry is lying about why he wanted the in-state tuition, it has to do with labor / business not his love little latinos.
“...more than 17,000 worked along the southweatern border, much of which is Texas.”
Get a clue. Texas is NOT the Southwest US, other than the area around the El Paso and New Mexico border. I don’t believe folks in Southeast TX could identify with that description, as they are more like the Deep South folks of the Gulf Coast. Same holds true for other regions of TX, regarding attempts to classify the State as “Southern”, “Southwestern”, etc., because we don’t fit any of those labels. The Rio Grande Valley area is vastly different from the Panhandle. South Texas is vastly different from Central TX, West TX, East TX or North TX. Just no way I can say that TEXAS is a Southwestern State! .......4th/5th generation Natural Born Texan and proud of it!
BS
Put Cain at the TOP with Sarah as VP: that way we have a true conservative, with an even more conservative for succession.
And Cain can run as "Don't vote for me because I'm black. Vote for me because I'm successful!"
Cheers!
