Move over, Tom Friedman--there's another MSMer looking longingly at Communist China. In an infamous column, Friedman wrote of his envy of the power of the Chinese despots to impose "critically important decisions." He's been at it again lately
Now comes Sino-Commie-phile Katty Kay. On Morning Joe today, the BBCer criticized the USA for not having a "40-year plan for medical innovation" like the Chinese do. Joe Scarborough was on-point with his comeback. View the video here.

Relatives visiting from Britain a year ago complained they had had to buy health insurance before their vacation. Foreigners really want an NHS here. Never mind that it will stifle research, innovation and create massive wait times just to see a nurse practitioner. Doctors? Many are retiring or just leaving the field as they don't want Gov’t breathing down their necks or making their medical decisions for them.

Yep, she is very annoying which is why MSNBC likes her, standard arrogant liberal lecturing. She is ga-ga for Obama, always was.

Katty, here's a history lesson for you.
- A 40 year plan is useless given the relatively high rate of turnover in government. Don't try to change that - it lets us get rid of failures like hussein.
- Heck, even simple 5 year plans did not work out so well for the former Soviet Union. Maybe it is not the duration that is at fault? Maybe it is simply the idea of central planning that is the root failure here.
- You cannot plan nor schedule innovation. But then, maybe someone like you that has never had an original thought in her life wouldn't understand that.
So if that fails, what works? Businesses run/think long term, not to the end of the next 2 or 4 year election cycle. Businesses actually plan to stay in business - you don't do that by screwing-over the electorate/customer. Government types know their power is fleeting so...

Katty's Complaint: Why Doesn't USA Have 40-Year Plan Like China's?
Because we're not (quite) Marxist-Leninist-Maoist. No one could have predicted in 1880 what things were going to be like in 1920, much less "directed" it there. A 40 year plan by the government is just another way of saying, "Hey, we're going to control everything under the guise of having a plan and then use having a plan as justification for screwing anyone over we want for going against the plan."

The USSR had a hundred-year plan, Katie, and look where that got them.
Not that you're interested in facts.

I have a hundred year plan too. In a hundred years we will all be gone from this mortal coil. I have high degree of confidence in it.

the BBCer criticized the USA for not having a "40-year plan for medical innovation" like the Chinese do She of all people should know that the 40 year plan for total US domination by Communism takes precedence over any other plans.

Why Doesn't USA Have 40-Year Plan Like China's? That is simply because our leaders plan out only to the next election. Doing something smart on behalf of their Nation is beyond their capabilities. That is all.

Didn’t Obama just sign a 40 year plan/bill...to reduce the USA’s annual spending by $12.97 over the next 40 years?

A 40 year plan for technology? Let's go back 40 years ago and look at the predictions about what we have now. I'm sure a few things would be mentioned but that is the key, a FEW.
But I suppose a 40 year plan like China's would work: "OK, we do A, B, and C but most importantly, we spy the daylights out of the US of A and steal all of their innovations; that's how we make our real progress."

China’s plan went more like this:
“Let’s identify selfish, greedy CEO’s who don’t give a sewer rat’s patoot about their own country, who we can bribe to sell us their factories, and eventually their own companies.”
So far it’s been depressingly successful. Look around any Walmart.
