The chief executive and chief financial officer of Solyndra will invoke their Fifth Amendment rights and decline to answer any questions at a congressional hearing on Friday.
According to letters obtained by Reuters, Solyndra attorneys have advised CEO Brian Harrison and CFO W. G. Stover to not testify at a hearing of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. (RELATED: Rahm Emanuel on Solyndra: I dont remember)
I have advised Mr. Harrison that he should decline to answer questions put to him by this subcommittee based on his rights under the Fifth Amendment, Harrisons attorney, Walter F. Brown Jr., wrote to the the committee. This is not a decision arrived at lightly, but it is a decision dictated by current circumstances.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee opened an investigation into Solyndra after the solar panel manufacturing company which received a $535 million loan from the Department of Energy announced it would be declaring bankruptcy earlier this month.

A company I was working for went bust. About a month after I got my American Express Card Bill in the mail under the company's account with my name as the card user, which was normal. The difference was that I was being charged for all the outstanding charges from the entire corporate account. It came to about $23,000. The business owner and I worked out a deal which included customer orders on book, assets and equipment, and a company vehicle, but I had to pay the bill or they were personally going after me because I was an officer of the company.
Why is it the government won't do what American Express does?

Re: Republican commercial with these men taking the fifth.
Will never happen. There are NO Republicans with either enough imagination or the skeletal sufficiency to do that. Just as with every other opportunity, in the minds of the elitist Republican establishment wing of the ruling party, this too, shall pass and they can get on to the more important of their tasks, namely being reelected.

Yup....and I want them ALL there. ALL day. With no air conditioning. I want them ALL to be asked question after question after question, and force them so sit there in their own sweat and take the 5th time and time again. Enough for 100 campaign ads.

Just getting them to plead the fifth during a nationally televised congressional hearing is devastating to them and to the government officials involved with their half-billion dollar loan.

I thought the agreement they made last week stated that they would NOT plead the Fifth in exchange for getting another week to prepare their testimony?
I knew that was a scam when I saw it...all they did was rev up the shredders...but as usual, the House fell for it.

Guys, check back to last week. They were supposed to testify last week but specifically stated that they would not take the Fifth if they were given until this week to prepare their testimony.
This is a blatant violation of their agreement. (But who didn’t see that coming? Answer: the GOP in the House.)

"Why is it the government won't do what American Express does?"
Because American Express is a company that needs to earn a profit and wants their money.
In this case, Solyndra went broke and the holder of the note is Oaf-bama and company and they WANTED the officers to get away with the tax payers money . . . so that it could come back to Oaf-bama and RATS as campaign contributions.

My little "Zelig" moment in American History, taking place about an hour ago:
I was taking care of some business at the Santa Clara Convention Center, when I passed by a table in a public hallway with a younger black guy in a suit talking intently with a middle-aged white guy in a "Solyndra" corporate polo shirt.
I was so shocked to see someone still so willing to be publicly connected with them, that I involuntarily guffawed as I walked by. Both of them looked up at me, but I just kept on walking, with a smirk on my face.
So, let this be noted as the first "FReep" of Obama's Solyndra scandal! (Old timers know we used to do a whole lot more of that back in the Clinton days...)
