Obama's Disapproval Soars in Virginia
NBC Washington ^ | Sep 15, 2011 | Melissa Mollet

A new poll released Thursday morning shows President Obama's approval rating is dropping in Virginia -- a battleground state the Democrat took from Republicans en route to winning the White House in 2008.

These new numbers show the president’s disapproval rating has spiked in Virginia to 54 percent. The Quinnipiac University Poll is based on telephone interviews with 1,368 registered voters between September 7-12. The results mirror other polls that show a continuing slide in the president’s popularity in a slow, troubled economy.

Fifty-one percent of those surveyed say they do not think President Obama deserves to be re-elected. That’s compared with 41 percent who said they would re-elect him. In June 2011, 48 percent approved of the president’s performance. That number now sits at 40 percent.

Most troubling for Obama is his poor performance among independents, many of whom supported him three years ago. Sixty-three percent of unaligned voters disapproved of the way Obama is handling his duties while only 29 percent approved.

I think what's the most interesting about this article is the source. Obama is DOA for a second term, and even NBC hacks can see the writing on the wall.

I hope they sampled Northern Virginia on this. They get a lions share of the fed jobs and are chugging along really well in regard to real estate and unemployment. Full of libs.

As it stands, members of his own party are going to either butt him or go down with him.

His disapproval is soaring everywhere. They're just trickling out the news out state-by-state so they can milk forty nine more articles out of it.

His disapproval is higher than those numbers here in VA. More like 60%.

Even Kenyans are now saying Obama was born in the USA.

Yes, Northern Virgina is a cesspool of liberalism. What do you expect with all those government workers and journalists? Northern Virgina has none of the charm and grace of the rest of the state. Most (or nearly most) of the residents weren't born in Virginia or have any lineage in the state. I wouldn't live there for any amount of money.

If you excluded Northern Virginia, Obama's disapproval numbers would be over 60% and maybe higher.

At this rate he will be wishing he had Bush’s poll numbers.

Pray for America

Obama will never win that state again next year, no matter what. From the Left Coast, their new governor is very impressive to me and should be considered as VP material.

This means 46% of the people in Virginia are delusional..

NoVA wags the dog at this point. Loudon and Fairfax counties have gone blue since 2000. There's a handful of conservative districts left, but they are overwhelmed by the hoards of libs that flocked here. It's only a (short) matter of time until they convert it into New Jersey on the Potomac.

The only way the Repubs take VA is if voters in Fairfax, Loudon and the VA Beach area stay home.

Cornered ‘Rats are vicious.

Massive vote fraud may be the Left's only winning strategy. And rest assured the Demonrats will have no compunction at using it massively.

What about the other “56” states?

The math is real, real simple. Obama is below 45% re-elect in the States of Florida, Virginia, Indiana, North Carolina, and is sitting at 46% in Ohio.

If those States do not vote for him in 2012, he will only have 273 Electoral Votes from his remaining 2008 States. Enough to give him the win... but he has to swing everything to win it!

This puts him in a corner.

If he loses any State more than the five listed above, he cannot win. Period.

Virginia has legislative elections this November. We’ll see how much dislike of Obama translates into dislike of the Dem Party in general.

I think VA will be in the Republican column in 2012. Most congressmen swept in with Obama were swept out in the mid-terms. Virginia has a heavy black population (40% in my city of Newport News) but even their support for the anointed one should slip a few points.

I live in fairfax county. Fairfax went blue in 2008 and then back red in 2010. This county won’t vote for Obama again.
