Congress expands Fast and Furious probe to White House

Congressional investigators reviewing the failed gun-tracking program Operation Fast and Furious have formally asked the Obama administration to turn over copies of "all records" involving three key White House national security officials and the program, other ATF gun cases in Phoenix, and all communications between the White House and the ATF field office in Arizona.

The letter signed Friday by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista), chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and Sen. Charles E. Grassley of Iowa, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, was sent to National Security Advisor Thomas E. Donilon, a top aide to President Obama.

It marks a significant step in the committee's investigation into the failed gun-tracking operation, as the committee begins to broaden its investigation from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and targets White House and Department of Justice officials.

This material, Issa and Grassley said, "will enable us to determine the extent of the involvement of White House staff in Operation Fast and Furious."

White House officials, along with those at the Justice Department, said they have been cooperating in the widening probe, begun earlier this year when several ATF whistleblowers alerted congress that Fast and Furious weapons were found at the scene of the slaying of a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

Under the program, ATF agents allowed illegal gun purchases and hoped to track the weapons to Mexican cartel leaders. But most of the more than 2,000 firearms were lost. Hundreds have reportedly turned up in Mexican crime scenes, two at the shooting where Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed, and a semi-automatic at an altercation and assault with police in Maricopa, Az.

Thanks. I agree that what we now know as ‘Fast and Furious’ started in 2009, but I recall there was a smaller-scale operation in place before that. As is common, its scope was changed, goals and objectives were changed, and it even got a new name.

I suspect Issa and Grassly have a series of events planned out. At least, I hope so, and that these events blow up in Obama’s face around October of next year.

For Congress to ask of materials from La Casa Blanca is to invite a delayed response of “Sorry, on the basis of separation of powers (executive privilege) I refuse to cooperate,” which will be released on a Friday afternoon.

Given this will happen, what next?

And as Rush said yesterday, we all know why they did it, to stimulate more cries for gun control. As Obama answered when asked about more gun control, said he had things going on below the radar.

Liberal outfits like the LA Times still classifying Fast and Furious as a “failed guntracking program!” It was a deliberate attempt to undermine the 2nd amendment rights of the American people. If Bush had run this criminal debacle, the attacks the media would be writing would have stretched to the moon by now.

The program did not fail. This was a false-flag black op designed to frame American gun stores owners and create anti-2nd Amendment propaganda. The guns were supposed to end up killing people and the Feds got caught this time. They should have used the same arms dealers that they used to arm Al-Qaeda to attack Libya.

The Issa - Grassley inquiry has already been labeled as a political which hunt and if it gets too close to the Obozo one can bet the MSM will loudly report the same. That will effectually turn this investigation into a circus. Holder is already posturing himself as a political target and I suspect the race card ploy isn't too far off. If Issa and Grassley really want to avoid the focus of their effort from getting derailed they need to have a special prosecutor on board yesterday. If they fail to enlist that option then it puts into question their own sincerity at seeking justice for the family of all those who have died as a result of the Obozo’s attempt at fabricating anti-firearms data.
