I’d like to see those numbers sorted out in terms of education, age, marital status, substance abuse. My guess is that black/white/hispanic matters a lot less than these factors.

Lifestyle has a lot to do with net worth.

I find that blacks tend to be, more often than not, concerned with status than whites.

They like shiny shoes and clothes. If they own a car, there’s a good chance it will be a Chrysler 300,

Whereas whites are willing to drive a beat-up Pinto and wear lumberjack shirts from the local Workwearhouse.

After 46 years of consistent failure, the federal government needs more money to spend on its favorite social engineering programs. It needs more power to micromanage our lives in the Heartland.

A skeptic might conclude that Washington (a.) doesn’t have a clue, (b.) never had a clue, (c.) can’t solve the problem, and (d.) has been forcing us to pretend for decades that these bureaucrats are competent in order to extract from us our tax dollars.

In fact, with all the power that Washington has been given to micromanage race relations, with all the money that it has spent on that project, Washington has succeeded in making everyone - black, white, Hispanic - worse off than we were just a few years ago!

According to the New York Times, Washington needs the power to “devise districts and situate homes in ways that are more likely to produce integrated schools and neighborhoods.”

But wait a minute ... just how many integrated schools and neighborhoods are there? There have been integrated schools in America for over a hundred years now. There are plenty of integrated neighborhoods.

If integration was a real solution, then surely it would have worked after half a century of trying it?

No worry. Its not like facts and consequences and results have ever gotten in the way of liberal ideology before. We still have housing projects and welfare in the year 2011.

The New York Times thinks Washington needs even more power to give bureaucrats the right to decide where every man can live and where every child can go to school!

These government schools are doing such a heckuva job under Obama that everyone should be forced to attend one.

“... soaring health care costs ...”

Riiiiiiiiight. “Soaring health care costs” did this, not Marxism.

but 16.8 percent for blacks and 11.3 percent for Latinos....

...and 7.1 for Asians. Hmmm, wonder why that is?

White Americans are hurting, but nonwhite Americans are hurting even more. Yet leaders in both political parties — for different reasons — continue to act as though race were anachronistic and irrelevant in a country where an African-American is the president

Yep - minorities hurting even more BECAUSE of all the programs to "help" them, not DESPITE the efforts.

Why is it always the Left that keeps race issues alive when they are the ones who purport to be all-inclusive. I guess it's convenient to keep the memory of slavery alive so they can send their special brand of slaves to the streets at the drop of a hat. - what a disgusting bunch.

If they are going to post figures on ‘households’ how about detailing how many parents and children there are in each ‘household’ - or would the figures be embarrassing?

When government has you enslaved to their handouts so that you will vote Democrat each time, expect that there will be little wiggle room when times get though.

It’s the old adage: give a man a fish....

Blacks Americans would be wise to unhinge themselves from expecting that government will: educate their children, provide all their healthcare, make sure they get paid the minimum wage, hire them to work for the State, give them unemployment benefits when they get laid off, etc, etc.

When Blacks learn to be self-sufficient and entrepreneurial, they will quickly have no reason to vote for Democrats because they would have learned that government can do nothing for them that they cannot provide for themselves. As long as your wagon is hitched to the government, you’ll have no racial pride. By the way, Obama was never your messiah despite what he led you to believe.

Political leaders must openly recognize that we cannot progress either by ignoring race or focusing exclusively on it. It is not only legitimate, but also essential, to evaluate policy options partly on the basis of whether they are likely to reduce or increase racial inequalities.

The article is rather superficial because it fails to present a little more detail on the specifics and demographics of the job losses. Instead the article focuses on broad policy positions.

A simple analysis of where the job reductions are taking place, the kind of jobs that are being lost, the local demographics, etc. would lend insight and help explain what is happening.

Perhaps a British newspaper would be a better source.

This is not necessarily about racial discrimination (which probably has little, if anything, to do about it). We live in a society where people are free to spend/save their money as they see fit. If some people tend toward saving and others the opposite, it’s none of the government’s business.

“Democrats mention race as little as possible, even though minority voters are crucial constituents, because colorblind positions are far more politically popular. Affirmative action has been supported in every Democratic presidential platform since 1972, but since the Reagan era, Democrats speak of it less and less. “

All I’ve heard is race race race. Why hasn’t this guy heard it?

It is abominable that liberals are always pointing out that people of color don’t manage to keep up with the rest of us. It is so unkind ans insensitive if them. They out to be ashamed of themselves. So mean spirited.

70% of Black children are born out of wedlock, many to teens and the fathers do not support them.

47% of Blacks do not graduate with a high school diploma.

Unless the Black community addresses these problems which are societal to THEM and must be addressed BY THEM, nothing will improve.

Let me count the ways as to why black unemployment is higher than their white counterparts.

The vast majority of blacks are located in the democrat controlled inner cities with their wonderful educational systems and excellent job opportunities.

Uh, I better not list the other ways, or Rev. Al, Jessie, Maxine. the Black Caucus and NAACP will label me a racist.

EVERY TIME A DEMOCRAT FAILS, THE FAILURE IS "BIPARTISAN".

EVERY TIME A REPUBLICAN IS IN OFFICE, ALL PROBLEMS ARE DUE TO THE REPUBLICAN. THIS IS A LIBERAL THEME.

Hussein is an utter disaster. For two years he and his cabal ran roughshod over the process, inflicting America with disastrous legislation and policies. Those policies are destroying wealth and prosperity...but the liberal media and other Hussein cultists say the problems are "bipartisan".

When REAGAN/BUSH/BUSH II were in office, every single problem, according to the liberal media and the like were due to REAGAN/BUSH/BUSH II.

The bad thing about playing the race game is that you get into the old you can fool all the people some of the time thingy.
