The Gibson Guitar saga has taken a sinister turn.
It seems that the Department of Justice wasnt satisfied with merely raiding the law abiding factories of Gibson Guitar with armed agents, shutting down their operation costing them millions, and leaving the American company in the dark as to how to proceed without going out of business.
Now, according to CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, agents of the United States government are bluntly informing them that theyd be better off shipping their manufacturing labor overseas.

I agree except unless that person holding the guitar also has an actual copy of the Federal document suggesting the move to Madagascar, the MSM will discount the veracity of the story.
So Fender, Martin, Taylor, Gretsch, Carvin, Ibanez, Jackson, Washburn, etc all are Democrat donors?
This whole Gibson story is DISASTER for Obama. Much of his ‘08 support was from old white hippies who revere Gibson. Word has gotten around Guitar World. Doubt they’ll vote for him again.
Ebony comes from several places, Madagascar is one
Gabon is another the same with rose wood.
Long ago when I was apprentice to an instrument maker
there were various restrictions, so I suppose it’s
the same today. We used to go to flea markets looking
for curios made of ebony to cut up for nuts bridges etc.
My big dulcimore which unhappily was stolen some
years ago had Brazilian Rosewood finger board with
ebony inlays and mother of pearl doves, a hand carved
man in the moon on the neck and other work that made it
one of a kind. Sigh.
The issue is not with ebony, it’s with Indian rosewood, which the indians prefer to handwork there. Problem is the work does not meet Gibson’s standards, so additional finishing work is needed at the Gibson factory.
According the the DOJ, this violates some technicality or other, and explains why the DOJ suggests doing the work outside the US where this looney law does not apply.
This is pure insanity and is perfectly illustrative of why this our government needs a thoroughgoing high-pressure hosedown.
That’s great.
I was thinking Gibson should diversify and get into the gun manufacturing business, using domestic steel of course.

So much going on suddenly this week.
Barack Obama and Eric Holders DoJ has decided to come after AT&T for its plans to merge with T-Mobile, possibly doing the bidding of donors while hindering jobs growth in America as well as nationwide 4G wireless Internet competition...
So Holder wants to drive Gibson manufacturing out of the US, and to keep T-Mobile in German hands, and prevent AT&T from bringing jobs back to America. Do I have that right?..
Back in California, Amazon offered Democrats a compromise that included the possibility of thousands of jobs in this state. I am informed the Democrats have rejected the offer. I hope now Amazon realizes the only option is millions for defense, but not one cent for tribute. The unconstitutional Internet sales tax/Amazon Tax must not be paid.
The DOJ is now filled with traitirs!
So did Michelle give Carla Bruni-Sarkozy the Gibson guitar before the first raid/$500K wood confiscation or after it when Obama's DOJ was planning the second armed raid and Indian Rosewood confiscation? Hmmmmm? This is just sick.
Where the hell is the GOP on this? McCain probably loves it but what about the conservatives.
Seems ready-made for GOP campaign ads.
BuMp.
I’m a Strat’ guy, but my next axe may have to be a Les Paul. Better start working out though, they weigh a ton!
Hussein wants businesses to outsource.
Made in Madagascar? Might as well be Made in China, no one would pay prices like for Gibson Made in USA. I suggest a special run of ‘Government Seizure’ guitars, and Tennessee Governor start looking out for jobs in his state.
Plenty o sustain and crunch.
Don't annoy us further.
We have our work to do
Just think about the average. What use have they for you?
Forget about your silly whim.
It doesn't fit the plan.
“IMO, the low-level bureaucrats that enforce this crap are just as guilty as the higher-ups who foist these regulations off on us.”
Nuremberg precedent.
“Im a Strat guy, but my next axe may have to be a Les Paul. Better start working out though, they weigh a ton!”
I used to have a custom made strat clone with a Mahogany body. It did weigh a ton.
I was a Les Paul guy my whole life, but a just play for myself as a hobby.
I have kept a second Strat around at times, just for something different to play I started committing to practicing more recently, and found myself favoring the comfort and versatility of the Strat much I just sold my Les Paul Custom.
They are/were Squier and Epiphone imports, so collector value is not my concern. The smaller necks of the imports fit my hand far better.
Why isn’t boehner screaming about this!
