We need somebody who can WIN this thing. That means somebody with cross-over appeal, which our Palen, Bachmann and Cain (no matter how much we love them) simply do not have.

Until 1989, Rick Perry was a conservative Democrat. He switched parties as, like many Democrats including Ronald Reagan and Phil Gramm, he saw that party moving farther and farther to the left. Under Perry’s decade as governor, hundreds of Texas Democrats have followed his lead and become Republicans. As a former Democrat, Perry can speak to that swath of his former party that has become disenchanted with their party as President Obama has taken it even farther to the left, in a way that few Republicans can. He can also speak well and credibly to all wings of the national GOP, from the fiscal cons to the social cons to the libertarian set.
He would appeal to all segments of the Republican electorate and would come armed with a record of economic success and a commitment to liberty that no other contender can match.

Texas has been voted #1 business climate for the last seven years.
Texas has been getting all of California’s jobs.
Perry must be doing something right.

However, property has always been taken via eminent domain for public uses such as for parks, roadways, railroads, etc. There is nothing unconservative about that, as long as just compensation is provided. This would cause these famers to have to transport their farm implements as much as twenty miles, just to farm the other side of their property, and that's inside the U.S. This only seems to become a problem for you, if that property extends outside of the U.S.

Care to specify what rights the children of illegals can get that US citizens from other states can't get? And don't bother saying "in-state tuition" - that has already been thoroughly debunked. Any citizen that met the same criteria (attending Texas schools for at least three years, graduate from a Texas high school, live in Texas for at least 12 months immediately prior to applying for college) would also get in-state tuition. As a matter of fact, Texas law makes it easier for US citizens to qualify as Texas residents for in-state tuition. You or your family must merely live in Texas and be employed for 12 months prior to applying - the requirement to attend Texas schools and graduate from a Texas high school do not apply to US citizens.

I really was not thrilled with this, but Perry has admitted he made a mistake in how he handled it. But keep in mind that almost 30,000 people per year are diagnosed with HPV-related cancers. So while I don't agree with the method, I do agree with the concern.

Okay, I appreciate the admission. Mind you that 30,000 does sound like a big number, but when you consider how many millions of women we have in the U.S., it's actually a small number. What if 100% of women contracted this malady? Would that validate a government edict that every woman had to risk death or severe long term rash/immunodeficiency problems or else? From your already expressed concern, I think you would respond no. I know I would. Women should be in charge of their own bodies, unless a missed vaccination would feed into broadspread major illnesses and death through epidemic. I even have some concerns about that, but have thus far come down on the side of immunization for the general welfare of our citizens. Seeing massive numbers of chidlren dying, being sterilized, or mamed, causes me to come down on the side I have concerning this. This was not the case with Gardasil. Due process would have avoided this problem for Perry, and yet he didn't see it.

I think parents should have the right to decide if they want to immunize their daughters for this. But the number of deaths allegedly associated with the vaccine, while tragic, is very small. Keep in mind that they estimate that vaccinations for chicken pox caused 100 deaths per year until recently. Deaths from chicken pox are pretty rare, but almost 5,000 women per year die from HPV-related cervical cancer. So your argument about the supposed danger of the vaccine is flawed, unless you oppose ALL vaccines on the same grounds, seeing as many mandatory vaccines have a much higher death rate.

Okay, that's a rather fair comeback, but there is a glaring difference here. Normal vaccines are necessary because the malady's they protect against endanger the populace at large. This wouldn't be limited to say 5,000 women who made choices for themselves. It would involve literally millions of kids and adults in any given region, and quite likely throughout the nation and beyond.

I have addressed that Scott. By the mere implementation of this Executive Order, Perry exerted excessive influence on parents trying to make determinations if this vaccine was advisable or not.

Many of those parents probably opted in for their daughters based on his actions.

May they both serve in the next cabinet! Newt Gingrich is a better guy than most will concede but reality is reality. He won't be nominated. Newt would make a great idea man for the next administration so long as he understands that global warming and similar issues are beyond the pale. Romney and Huntsman are useless RINOs who have no business seeking the nomination. I say this not because they are Mormons since Mormons of my acquaintance are very good folks. I would not be surprised if most Mormons voted against both of them. Ron Paul should have the sense to be embarrassed by his own looney tunes track record and Neville Chamberlain foreign policy and persistent lying about being on the right side of social issues when he simply refuses to have the fedgov correct the fedcourt created evils of abortion and gay everything posing as normality.

We don't have to be fighting each other over the three quality candidates (Palin, Bachmann, Perry). We will have to choose a candidate among them to unite behind to thwart the RINOs and destroy Obozo. We will know shortly whether Sarah is running. We will know whether we are choosing from two or three candidates. Let's not alienate each other in advance by being overly vehement against any one of them. There is no reason for Palin to respond to the attacks on other candidates especially considering the unprecedented and continuing attacks on her. These others pale in comparison to the all-out assault on her and her family.

Forgive me, but I think you addressed some major cities where roads couldn’t be expanded. In other states circumnavigation routes are establised for these exceptions rather than devise a whole new massive system through-out the state.
