In April St. Louis youths playing the “knock-out game” beat, kicked and punched 72-year-old Hoang Nguyen and his wife on their way home from the grocery store.
Nguyen died in the attack.
In June black youths playing the “knock-out game” targeted and beat a gay man going to work. The victim suffered a broken nose, a sore jaw and a black eye.
This past week black youths in St. Louis playing the “knock-out” game are targeting cyclists in the city. KMOX reported:
There’s an alert out about recent assaults on bike riders in south St. Louis.
Trailnet.org, an organization that promotes hiking and biking, is cautioning riders to be on the alert for roving bands of teenagers who swarm and attack riders.
Trailnet says the latest attack was last Thursday (8/25) afternoon near Missouri Botanical Garden where a group of 10 to 15 African-American teens charged and attacked a cyclist.
“They weren’t really interested in robbing me. It just seemed like they wanted to beat me up,” says assault victim Cheech Ramirez. “They weren’t interested in letting me get off the ground and having a fair fight.”
Ramirez says he and his friends returned to the scene minutes later to help another bicyclist who was being beaten.
Police say there have been other, similar attacks in the city, and they believe all the victims are picked at random.
Mayor Francis Slay is calling for action, possibly with citizen bike patrols set up with the help of Trailnet and local police.

If it was white gangs beating up solitary blacks, they already would have done this and much more.

I can't argue with that, SkyDancer. I keep a can here for wasps, and it should work fine on feral humans, temporarily. I even recommend it for gun-shy friends or for places where you can't have pepper spray.
My problem with a spray is that it is unlikely to make a real change in the bad guy, and just teaches him to be more careful the next time. I'm not interested in training the vermin.

Well at least you’d be able to get away. Then too, it might have taught them something like maybe the next person might do the same thing, or, have a gun.

I don’t expect much out of the victims of this attack. Where they were attacked, Tower Grove Park, is a well known haven for the “alternative lifestyles”, if you gather my meaning.
I grew up on the southside of St. Louis, and it got much darker over the years. People fled to the outlying counties, but this only gave a temporary reprieve, since whereever there is an apartment complex, there will be Section 8 recipients. The only way to keep them out is to move into a subdivision that they can’t afford. And so it goes, with the areas that were once peaceful are now seeing alot more violent crimes being committed by the erstwhile city dwellers who venture out into the counties looking for easy prey.
