A wave of fear has come over Washington and its not the earthquake or the hurricane. Self-appointed Republican elites, fretting Hill Republicans and left-wing carnival barkers all have one thing in common: Perryphobia.
Its an acute condition, with different manifestations. But it has the same root cause arrogance toward Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
Lets get this straight with Congress being as popular as cholera, they think they are going to hurt Perrys chances by dissing him? Really? Congress is at an all-time low, according to a new Gallup poll, with only 13 percent of Americans approving of the way Congress is handling its job.
The fact is that a candidate seeking support from actual humans who vote would be smart to distance him or herself from Congress and cholera.
Anyway, the arrogance of the left is easy to prove. And it is even easier to prove that they are in full-out Perryphobia. A random sampling of left-wing oracles this week produces these gems: Ed Shultz calls him a racist; Rachael Maddow says he wants to lynch Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, and Chris Matthews insists that he looks like a clown.
Now for Hill Republicans, whoever they are. A Politico story, Rick Perrys loose lips worry Hill Republicans put Perryphobia on full display.
Lets start with the left, because thats easy. Liberals roughly 20 percent of America, fortunately are generally very willing to tell you that they know more than you do. If you dont believe that, try a field experiment today and you will see.
But liberals dont just talk the talk, they walk the walk...........

There is no “spectrum.” They either adhere to the first principles of the republic and thereby keep their sacred oath, or they don’t.
I like Thomas Jefferson, but he's unfortunately not available to run - neither in life nor in certain sections of the Texarse public skewal curriculum.
>>We get it. You hate Perry.
Sorry, but Emperor Perry is strolling down the avenue in his Fruit of the RINO underwear.
Was it an error for Perry to help plant ACORNs?
Was it an error for Perry to associate with The Race (La Raza)?
Evidently so.
Next applicant please?
Good luck with that, so far I am batting zero getting a Perry basher to either pick a candidate, or if they have, to compare their candidate’s record on the issues against Perry’s. Its all emotion and hand waiving. They are not even slightly convincing in their attempts to direct people away from Perry, in fact I think they are doing just the opposite.
How is Perry a socialist?

CRAIG MELVIN, MSNBC anchor: Texas Governor Rick Perry comes from a state where nearly 38 percent of the population is Latino, but his aggressive stance on immigration may cost him some votes in his own backyard, should he get the nomination. He opposes amnesty for illegal immigrants, supports only a limited version of the DREAM Act, and he's also spent some $400 million reinforcing border security. San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro called his initiatives "Easily the most anti-Latino agenda in more than a generation, without shame." Joined now by Lisa Navarrete, member of the National Council for La Raza. Would you agree with that characterization, Lisa?
LISA NAVARRETE, National Council for La Raza: Well definitely more recently. I think a lot will depend on which Rick Perry shows up in this presidential election. You know, last year he spoke, he was an important voice saying that Arizona-style legislation was not the right direction for Texas yet just earlier this year he introduced legislation in the emergency session which mimicked a lot of the provisions of that bill. You know, he's talked about, at our conference, and he's talked about, at the NALEO conference just a couple of months ago, about how integral Hispanics are to Texas' economy and its future. But, you know, on the other hand, he has a voter ID bill that will prevent a lot of them from being able to vote. So it's a question of who shows up.
I made a mistake: that was 2005, not 2007.
Nevertheless, your post makes no sense. Can you explain?
>>Nevertheless, your post makes no sense
It makes sense to anyone who recognizes the self-evident effect that ACORN, and those who supported it, had on the fraudulently manufactured demand... and values... that were the housing bubble.
Nudge, nudge, nudge...
How's that Sub-prime a$$paper floating these days?
Perry can’t surf. His (D)epends are bloating with RINO Piddle.
I’m afraid of what big government”conservatives” like to do.
IF they’re big government...they ain’t conservative...
I can attest to that. I started paying attention to Perry back in May. At that time I wanted Palin to get in the race, but I was interested in the fact that Palin had campaigned for Perry.
I saw them as an interesting pair, particularly their mutual interest and experience in promoting our domestic energy resources.
When I started noticing self-proclaimed Palin supporters here on Free Republic bashing Perry and acting really vile about it, I realized something was seriously out of whack.
The more I learned about Perry, his flaws and all, the more I realized the self-described Palin folks were fearful. They saw a candidate in Perry that would make a Palin candidacy unnecessary, even redundant.
It was then that I started entertaining the idea of a Palin-Perry or Perry-Palin ticket. What better way to utilize our strongest conservatives? At first I liked Palin in the lead role, but I've gotten to the point now that I consider Perry to be more deserving of the nomination. Palin is hurting herself with the endless speculation her non-candidacy generates. She's beginning to seem like the self-consumed teenage girl who can't decide which boy to go to the prom with.
I still like Palin and see her as a current and future asset to the conservative cause, but I'm ready to support an announced candidate. The uncertainty of the reality of an eventual Palin campaign and the Perry bashing by a weird cult of self-described Palin supporters here on FR has got me looking at Palin as maybe a VP pick or Cabinet appointee for a Perry administration.
So as far as I'm concerned, your observation has much merit.
“Explains the angst and resentment of the Rove-Bush coterie. I have even seen Dana Perrino on Fox trying to couch her words in neutral terms towards Perry, but she didnt succeed.
They (establishment old guard who brought us DOLE, McCAIN and GWB) are terrified at what looks to be a major loss of power and influence.”
So True. As a Palin supporter I’ve seen it with her and now I’m seeing it with Perry. The big GOP E does not want Perry in either. *Which if you think about it, it shows how stupid they are in the E, that they would be willing to go down with the ship with Romney.
That has nothing to do with this law, which protected people from contracts for deed mortgages, a fraudulent lending practice.
ACORN received no money from passage of this bill and the mortgages had nothing to do with the housing bubble. Texas law remained firm on requiring mortgages to cover no more than 80%.
Indeed. Hence my “quotation marks”.
He's not a conservative.
How many organically created jobs are in Texas -- as opposed to ones from companies fleeing California?
And the talk of Perry "creating jobs" gives the game away: the government cannot create jobs. The fact that Perrywinkles talk like it can shows that they are not real conservatives.
We need real growth, not a zero-sum game.
Cheers!
You're obviously a coprophiliac. Seek help.
If you won’t recognize the difference between Republicanism and republicanism, there’s not much more to talk about.
